Rating: Summary: The perfect move is to buy this book Review: I was a 100 player at the beginning of this summer and after reading this book my scores gradually became lower and i even finish the year with a score of 78 at one of the toughest course of my region. I haver beaten guys that were more talented then me just by playing whit my head. If you want to save 490$ buy Doc Rotella's book instead of a new driver... Thanks Bob!
Rating: Summary: Best Golf Instruction Book Available, for the Veteran Review: I had put away the clubs for 9 or so years after a divorce, career change and moving to another city. My first season back, this book was recommended by my golf instructor who had given me one lesson. To this date, I have had only that lesson, and one about 10 yrs ago. The book was easy to read at lunchtime, while I might then be preparing to hit the practice tee after work that day. My golf suddenly went from the mid 90's, back into the mid 80's, where I had been during the late 1980's. The focusing and targeting skills this book helps one develop are very very powerful. If you want swing basics, look at mags and the other swing books. If you want scoring strategies, and a winning mindset, this is your book.
Rating: Summary: The Only Golf Lesson You'll Ever Need Review: A better instructional book has never been written. As an avid 16 handicapper and student of the game, I am a firm believer that golf is more mental than physical. I read the book over the summer and have reduced my handicap a few strokes but improved my enjoyment of the game tremendously. I now pride myself on being able to outthink the guys in my regular foursome. Kudos Dr. Rotella!
Rating: Summary: Golfers, go to the top of this page and buy this book now! Review: Simply put, this book is incredible. I am a 16 year old addict, who was last year, the worst player on the school team. I had taken lessons from pros, watched instructional videos, and attended numerous golf camps. At the beginning of the this year's season, I was considering quitting, when I picked up this little treasure. Bob Rotella's book has completely changed my attitude about this wonderful game. It taught me to forget about what other people thought about my game and remember how to have fun. Due to the weather this year, our golf season was only two weeks long. It took me one week to make junior varsity, and I give half of the credit to this book, and half of the credit to me for reading it. By utilizing the mental techniques found in "Golf Is Not A Game Of Perfect," I was smashing my previous scoring records and setting new ones almost every round! I was shooting in the mid-70's (9 holes) last year, and now I consistently score in the low 40's! This fantastic book is the real deal!
Rating: Summary: If you read one instructional golf book, read THIS one. Review: After reading only half of this book, I have shot 4-5 stokes better on every round I have played. I have never enjoyed the game more. The advice helped the most when trying to get out of trouble.Definately 5+ stars....
Rating: Summary: Best book ever about improving your enjoyment & game Review: I have read approximately 25 golf books and instructional books on golf. Some books are very good, good, fair and poor, partially based on the game level of the reader. This book is a GREAT, GREAT book. In fact it is the best golf improvement book I have ever seen. I believe it is not simply because it matches my skill level, but because it truly applies to most skill levels. The only negative about this book, I was wanting more when it was finished. I have read two other books by Rotella and they are very good also, but this book is the best. Waiting for more!
Rating: Summary: Comparative Review: I just finished reading Different Strokes, by Mona Vold, and picked up Doc's book because a guy golfer friend of mine recommended it (& he's reading Vold's book). The original Ladies pros/teachers and Vold's narrative gave me a far greater appreciation of golf as a quest versus golf as a past time. I like Doc's premise re perfection, but...well, I recommend you check out Vold's book...
Rating: Summary: This is a must for anyone that wants to play better golf Review: In the first round that I played after reading this book, I beat my 9-hole handicap by 10 strokes! And it was the most fun I'd had on a golf course since high school. On one hole, I hit two consective balls out of bounds, ending up with a quadruple bogey. Dr. Bob's insights helped me clear my mind of the bad shots as I walked to the next tee and gave me the confidence to stick my tee shot to within 6 foot of the cup. I'm going to buy a copy of this book for every one of my golfing buddies for Christmas.
Rating: Summary: I had my doubts......... Review: but I was very happy with the results. I read the book during the winter as a break from Connelly and Hiaasen novels, and I doubted the information would have any effect on my game. My first round of 1999 was the most enjoyable round I've played in a long time. Why? I didn't spend the whole round worrying why I wasn't hitting perfect shots, and then trying to fix my swing. I selected the right club, went through my pre-shot routine, concentrated on the target, and trusted my swing. It wasn't perfect, but I got into less trouble, got out of trouble easier by playing the smart shot, and walked off the course smiling. Didn't do that too much last year!
Rating: Summary: Best investment a golfer can make! Review: This book dropped my handicap 7 strokes in 4 months. It is like this author met you personally and has studied your game. This book concentrates on the mental aspects of the game. It is awesome, light reading, and full of stories of the pros in situations like all of us typical amateurs.
