Summary: Humorous and good
Review: "Dry grips, this is one of the most important things to have in wet-weather golf. I once had a club slip out of my hands on the driving range and go through a snack shop window. I blamed it on an alien spacecraft", quips McCord.

Even though I found this book to hilarious, it contains a wealth of information for all levels of golfers. In fact, it has many useful tips and suggestions for low-handicappers. Don't let the title fool you. You don't have to be dumb to read and enjoy this book, as it provides useful insight for the novice of golf from the perspective of a seasoned PGA Pro and Coach.

Summary: Beginners Look No Further
Review: As a complete novice to the game of golf I needed a guide to get me started. This book gave me the information that I needed to know in order to start playing the game of golf. In this book you not only learn the fundamentals of the golf swing, but you also learn the language, the rules, and the do's and don'ts of the game. That way you don't make a idiot of your self out on the golf course. Gary also gives advice on everything from buying clubs to tipping the caddie. Gary lays down a common sense approach that is easy to follow and fun to read. I picked it up and could not set it down. This book put me on the right track in my golf game, and after a short while of applying the instructions that Gary suggests I have already seen a dramatic improvement in my game. The main reason for this improvement is advise from Gary's book; 1.Know your game, 2.Stick to your strengths, 3.Work on your weaknesses, 4.Don't compare yourself to other golfers. My first golf outting I couldn't hit a fairway to save my life. After reading this book, and practicing a lot as Gary suggests, I saw a dramatic improvement. I have since hit my first two greens off the tee, one of which resulted in my first par. And the only reason I didn't birdie either one of those holes is that I DIDN'T follow Gary's advice; practice putting a lot. If you are new to the game of golf I know you will enjoy and appreciate this book. I gets my highest endorsement.

Summary: GREAT!!
Review: As a new golfer, this book was very informative and well written. For someone that does not know that much about the game of golf, or just learning, it takes you through the game and thoroughly tells you about it in a language you can understand. I know my game has improved and I believe this book has helped! Thank You!

Summary: Full of 'Tips and Quips'. I just can't put it down.
Review: As someone who is new to golf I need all the help I can get. I found the text very informative and easy to follow. The author's sense of humour make the read all the more enjoyable and he certainly doesn't mind admitting his own mistakes as an aid to help others learn.

Following the exercises and instructions in the book has helped me a lot and I can now hit the ball almost every time (getting it to go in the right place may take a little longer). The photos demonstrating the techniques are okay but would be better if they were perhaps in colour and some could be slightly larger (mind you this would probably put the cost up). Other than that I can't find any fault with the book at all.

I would reccommend this book to anyone (I have already) who wishes to improve their game. It addresses all the areas I need to cover and keeps me laughing when my entire game is falling apart.

Summary: No Hype...No BS...Great Golf
Review: Do you want to play great golf? Before you pay $50/hr for some slouch who could care less about your golf game...give this book a shot. I almost didn't, because I never thought I'd buy a "Dummies" book. I bought this as a reinforcement for golf game that was going backwards instead of forwards.

McCord has put together all the tips I learned as a youngster. This book is packed with plenty of multipaned photos...they give you a sense of what is happening moment to moment through your golf swing. The photos don't just show you the right way to swing, but he also shows you the wrong way to swing with multipaned photos so you have a base of reference between right and wrong.

He goes through all parts of your game...preshot thought process, backswing, swing, and follow through...for the short game, putting, and the long ball. He even packs it with tips that you can actually take to the range with you.

If you don't lower your golf score by ten strokes in the first month...I'd be shocked.

Summary: Talk to me in my language!
Review: Finally, a book that not only kept my attention but, spoon fed me with the right amount of golf tatics for beginners like myself. Don't let the title shy you away if you are a beginner (or are considering taking up golf). This book takes you through the steps that are the foundation in order to have fun with this game. The humor of the book keeps you reading through the next chapter of the book, however; does not get in the way when addressing techniques. Since I am a beginner with golf, this book is right in line without any slicing.

Summary: Good book for a beginner
Review: Good book for a beginner like me, read it from cover to cover and tried to interpret what it taught me BEFORE I went and wasted a Pro's time on a lesson.

Good value, well structured and straightforward.

A good investment.
