Summary: Great book for serious golfers
Review: This is one of the best book about short game. It's guide the reader on how to play various shot from 100 Yards and in. Pelz begins this book by show the reader why the short game is so import tance to golfer's score. He then guide the golfers on how to control distance from 100 yards with all wedges, to picth and chip the ball from around the green, and to play bunker shot. He does not only shows how to play all these shots but also include how the ball will react on the greens in details. This part make this book different from other short game books. Pelz finished this book by showing how to choose wedges and how to practice effectively.

However, this book is very large so it take much time to finish. It will be a very boring book if the reader is not so serious about his/her score.

Summary: Good statistics, mediocre execution
Review: Pelz's method is a little too mechanical. The short game needs good mechanics but with more emphasis on instinct and feel. Pelz's "dead hands" philosophy is not something I want in such a feel-based thing as the short game. You don't have dead or passive hands when you swing a tennis racket or baseball bat, and you shouldn't when swinging a golf club either. But I do like Pelz's clock positions. And I think he did a great job in compiling his statistics.

Summary: Read It Often
Review: This is a great book. I attended a 3 day Pelz clinic two years ago and now have a much better short game. I think too, that Pelz' techniques, in some peculiar way, helped my longer game by subtly transforming the way I think about golf. The book is well written, clear, and useful. You must, however, adopt his intially awkward techniques and hold faith in them. At first the methods will feel overly scientific and rigid. Soon they will feel natural and smooth. The longer you use them consistently, the better your game will get.Read the book, or some portion of it, over and over until you fully incorporate the methods into your golfing thought process. Use it like a bible, ignore everything you've learned heretofore. Buy the book, attend a clinic, USE the method, have fun, and win.

Summary: The only short game book you will ever need.
Review: Dave Pelz short game book is the best I have ever read. I have read many books dealing with the short game in golf, this one is by far the best. It is easy to understand and read. There are plenty of educational pictures to look at. What a great book for the single to high handicap. Two thumbs up Dave.

Summary: Very helpful for the short game
Review: I found this book very informative and helpful in making my short game swing more consistent and reliable. Although some might find the teaching of a somewhat mechanical swing not to their liking, it will make it easier for the average golfer to establish a reference for their scoring clubs and be able to reach into the "toolbox" and pick up the right club to send the ball the desired distance. My short game was already pretty good, but this book helped me make it more consistent.

Summary: Lower your scores just by reading this book..
Review: Pelz, a former NASA engineer, takes a look at the game from a logical, data-driven angle that is both interesting to read and memorable. He makes so much sense it is hard to argue with his suggesions to improve your game. I read the book on one transatlantic flight and my scores were 2-3 strokes lower after implementing some of his suggestions.

Summary: Excellent approach to scoring on the golf course
Review: This book breaks down the short game... and breaks down the fear a golfer has standing over those partial shots so important to scoring. I liked it. Unlike many books which say just hit the ball close to the hole... and tap in the putt, Dave Pelz breaks down the concepts systematically allowing the golfer to take them to the course. I would recommend this book to any golfer ready to post lower scores.

Summary: Easy to read very understandable A++++
Review: I am a female golfer who had two area's of weakness, around the green and distance off the tee. After reading this book my short game improved tremendously!! I took advice from another review and read "Power Golf for Women" by Horn. Both books have knocked 15 strokes off my game. Thankyou Dave Pelz!!

Summary: It's a great book!
Review: This book has improved my short game significantly. I do not fully comprehend some sections of it, such as bowing your arms. The book is marvelous, but imagine the increased improvements if they were to create a videotape for the book also. Please contact me if you have information on getting the videotape if there actually is one. Sincerely, Fellow Golfer

Summary: A must have if you want to get serious about improving
Review: If you can put forth the time to read a 300+ page manual on the short game, it is well worth it. The author breaks the game down scientifically and gives you a concrete approach to improve your short game. You can improve regardless of athletic ability or swing type.
