Rating: Summary: Like a Duck to Water... Review: ...is how Pavel has made the transition from communism to capitalism. He is a shameless self-promoter, just like Ahhnold, and publishes new books constantly. Each of his books comes complete with a miniature catalog at the end, in case you'd like to buy more of his miracle products. That said, the information contained in this book really is revolutionary, and it really does work, like nothing else I've ever tried, like 8-Minute Abs, Mary Winsor Pilates, the AbSwing, and even one of those electronic devices. I actually bit the bullet and bought Pavel's $... contraption, which is ingeniously made, even though it probably only contains $... worth of material. The bottom line is, the results are practically immediate, because Pavel takes an approach that no one else does. I have three of his books now, and this one is the best.
Rating: Summary: The original book's the best, and now the improved version! Review: A popular, (and successful), philosophy among strength trainers is to train harder and briefer. This theme hasn't been applied to the abdominal muscles,(check all the high rep, low resistance 'tools' on TV ads), UNTIL NOW. Pavel uses the the latest knowledge to TRULY isolate, (crunches won't do it), the abs for the first time. What this means is brief sets like never before, ( those ' 6 minutes workouts' for the abs are NOT brief, just trying doing six minutes of crunches). Imagine doing a set of revised situps that stress the abs so well that you've had your best ab workout ever in less than ONE minute! No comparison; the only ab book worth getting.
Rating: Summary: Great, But... Review: As a college student I don't have alot of money. His product the Ab Pavelizer seems like a good invention, but costs a lot of money. The Janda situps, that Pavel recommends, is a great strength builder, but you have to have the contraption or a partner. However, he has some other strength builders, and his approach to excercise is refreshing. Well written and easy to understand, Pavel's book is worth the money.
Rating: Summary: You want abs? Time to get to work... Review: As is standard with Pavel Tsatsouline, this book gives you the knowledge. Pavel is never short on detail in his books when it comes to explaining how and why it works. Compound that with enough ab work to make the best of us puke and what do you have? Bullet Proof Abs... Now you no longer have an excuse for weak abs...
Rating: Summary: what they don't tell you Review: Everyone is full of praise for the results this book can bring you, and that's great, but no-one seems to want to point out that, just like every other fitness guru in the business, Mr Tsatsouline uses his book to make you buy his - expensive - exercise equipment. In this case, the Pavelizer, which starts at around.... Also, ...for what turns out to be a short book stuffed full of bombast and rhetoric isn't exactly great value for money. Like everything else in fitness, if you have discipline and willpower, you don't need this guy's borrowed wisdom. But then maybe you wouldn't be buying the book in the first place.
Rating: Summary: The Most Effective Abdominal Training Book I've Seen Review: I have actively searched for abdominal training information for the last 20 years. I always felt that there were more effective exercises than the ones that are commonly seen in the gym and in other books. My search ended when I found Bullet-Proof Abs. Pavel reveals many effective exercises that most fitness enthusiasts have never been exposed to. Two of the exercises that Pavel recommends were my exercises of choice as a competitive college gymnast. The world's most difficult sit-up and Bruce Lee's favorite abdominal exercises are two of the many movements that Pavel introduces. You will first learn how to isolate the abdominal muscles with a new type of sit-up. Once that you have mastered this exercise, you will teach your abdominal muscles to cooperate with other muscles of the body in order to accomplish movement and protect the lower back. This is real world abdominal training and will heve tremendous carryover to your normal every day activities whether they be competitive gymnastics, martial arts, or digging a whole. If you want the most effective abdominal training book that I have ever come across, this is the book to buy!
Rating: Summary: Stronger Abs Review: I have been exercising for over a year doing the usual high rep ab training and have not been very satisfied with the results. I am disapointed that after all this time i'm not seeing the definition I thought I should be seeing. After reading "Bullet Proof Abs" and applying the principles learned in the book, for two months now, my abs have gotten stronger and when I occasionally do my previous ab exercises they have become alot easier. The six pack that I wanted so badly is now not that far off. I am seeing definition that wasn't there after over a year of ab training. You definitely wont get this information (Bullet Proof Abs) from the high rep gym rats.
Rating: Summary: great insight to ab training Review: I just attended one of Pavel's seminars and it was excellent in addition to the wonderful tips you get from this book. People who criticize the book realize a book will not be magic bullet to get you ripped. It takes practice and time. Great tool
Rating: Summary: Something different, for any level of ability Review: I used to do incline bench situps with 30 pounds on my chest, and stop because I was bored, not tired. Pavel Tsatsouline comes with a book applying his favorite fitness tool, neurology, to abdominal training, and I find exercises that have me shake and collapse before the end of the first rep. If you want strong abdominals, you will get them if you do these exercises, if you want them to look good, he has a few tricks for that too. You will hear from some experts that since the abs mostly stabilise the torso, you need high rep workouts to train them as stabilisers, I don't know about you, but I used to carry 70 pounds of equipment on my shoulders in the army, and my abs never gave out as stabilisers, but they did give out when they had to assist maximum efforts. The book is full of exercises that require no equipment, those that do are well worth the investment.
Rating: Summary: 6-Pack Abs??? Review: I was reading thru everyones reviews for this book and others. The reviews for this book seem mostly positive. I see alot of posts praising the exercises and stating that if you follow it you will get the abs that you want. But the one thing I fail to see in any ones reviews (the most important thing) is anyone say they actually got 6 pack abs from using this book... In fact I haven't seen many people say that for other books either. The best I've seen as far as people stating that got results and a 6 pack is the "The Complete Book of Abs". Compare yourself and see. I left this 5 stars because I just wanted to add my 2 cents on the reviews, I haven't actually read the book.
