Rating: Summary: Must read for all Jets (NFL) fans ! Review: A superb account of a franchise that dedicated fans have had a love-hate relationship with for decades. Brought me back to sitting in Shea Stadium watching the jets come close to winning seasons year after year, always thinking "wait till next year."
Rating: Summary: Now more than ever Review: Along came Bill Parcells and New York thought its troubles were over. Last year we were a half hour from the Superbowl and now we're in the cellar again. If you find yourself scratching your head and asking why. This book has the answers--the history of the Gang Green struggle and where we went wrong.
Rating: Summary: Jets football history in all it's faded glory!!! Review: As a die hard Jets fan for about 10 years, I was thrilled to find a book detailing the ups and downs of one of America's most storied sports franchises. The information contained in this book is absolutely priceless! A must read for Jets fans of all ages.
Rating: Summary: An insider's look at a football team trying to get it right Review: Boy--I was really surprised. This was more than just Joe Namath and the Super Bowl. It was about the zaniness of having Brigitte Nielsen at practice, and the poignancy of what happened to the Sack Exchange, and the exhileration of life under Bill Parcells. The section on crazy Lou Holtz's attempt to get the Jets on track (he penned a "fight song" to be used after victories)was part of the club's long downward spiral after the Super Bowl. I think that if you like good writing, period, this is a book you'll love.
Rating: Summary: Every Jet fan should have this book!! Review: From the beginning to the present, this book has it all! Go Jets!
Rating: Summary: Being a Jet fan can be painful, but fun ! Review: Gerry gave a very honest account of the New York Jets. You'll enjoy the stories of the early years. Recounting the selling of season tickets from the apartment of one of the original owners, Walt Michaels finding a "good practice field" while flying home from a game (it was located on the grounds of a NYC prison), the press' examination of Joe Namath's knee in the restroom of a local restaurant and many others. Those who were at that dreadful Miami comeback at the Meadowlands in 1994 will relive that sick feeling in the pit of their stomachs. Parcells has come and gone and we still don't have another appearance in the Super Bowl. This book might expain why. But we return each season with high hopes of reaching the big game. Reading Mr. Eskenazi's book will remind all of us of the pain we go through to have some fun on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the Meadowlands (NJ).

Rating: Summary: A Must For Any Jets Fan Review: This is a well-written history of the New York Jets. It covers the one great accomplishment (Super Bowl III) and the many failures and disappointments. As a fan you love the team and always get your hopes even though you know they will dash them in the end. This book covers those emotions well.
Rating: Summary: This is a comprehensive sports metaphor for failure. Review: Using the tableau of an unsuccessful sports franchise, this book examines the culture of losing. It shows how the tendency to fail can permeate a team (or any organization for that matter) and create an expectation of futility for all who join on. It is as entertaining-with its comprehensive list of bizarre jets anecdotes- as it is informative about the history of pro-football's relationship with America and in explaining how so much could possibly go wrong to one team.
Rating: Summary: superb writing...and oh, the pain of being a Jet fan Review: Well written, exciting and very difficult to relive all the abysmal moments in Jets history. END
