Summary: Solid, unique comedy writing...
Review: ...and he goes after anyone and everything, despite what some of the bitter, angry, neurotic, self-styled liberal reviewers here would have you believe. I think it was Mark Twain who wrote something like "sacred cow makes the best hamburger"; Miller understands and embodies this.

Summary: Can liberals start a boycott too?
Review: After hearing about all of the right wing hicks boycotting the albums by the Dixie Chicks, I can't help but wonder...

After Dennis Miller's fawning praise of the president, and mindless endorsement of the war, can his intelligent, liberal-leaning former fans invoke the same response to Miller's betrayal?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Now I don't want to get off on a rant here....
Review: but Dennis Miller has more common sense in his pinky finger than George W. and the entire pack of DMV-caliber public servants in the Congress. This book has it all. His rant on intolerance was probably the most astute rant he's ever done. His rants on Elvis, Child Stars, and sports are funny as always. This man should be President, Chief Justice, and Supreme Speaker of Common Sense all rolled into one.

If you want a cranial clean-out session that makes an enema seem tame this will help clear your head of all the fog put out there in the media.

Summary: Doesn't drop the ball, but not much ground gained.
Review: Dennis Miller is back at it again with his fourth voume of "Rants". He and his team of writers don't miss a beat with there acerbically witty views and criticqes on celebrities, culture, and society. An added twist to this installments of "Rants" was Dennis Miller's new foray into football broadcasting on top of his weekly HBO show. With the additional commentary on football in this book, he can now feel for the growing number of people needing two jobs to get by (particularly those who have the oh-so ungrateful tasks of bitching and watching sports for a living, poor babies!)
Yes, its pretty much the same old same old for Dennis - and to me that was the biggest letdown of the book. Many of the issues dealt with in this book have already been done in other "Rants". Originality was lacking in many parts. Not many rants on politicians, sex, celebrities, and society can be kept fresh and interesting time after time, even by DM.
Still this book is a must-read for Miller fans and those who love to hear the high and mighty knocked off their precious horses.

Summary: Funny, Yet True!
Review: Dennis Miller is the man! I bought this book after seeing him on ESPN's Unscripted w/ Chris Connelly. Everything Dennis Miller rants about in this book is true when you stop and think and yet he keeps you interested by making sarcastic and funny remarks. I've only had this book for a couple days and I'm already half way through it. This book is a must have if you're a Dennis Miller fan!

Summary: Dennis Miller, Comedian.....R.I.P.
Review: Dennis Miller used to have an edge to his work; he was always attacking those in power and made no apology for it. Now, with his recent and self-serving conversion to Bush and his brand of conservatism, he has become a voice for the elite. A comedian can be right-wing (he just might not be as funny), but recent appearances have demonstrated that as he has moved to the right, his comedy has dropped off and his political rhetoric (sans wit) has increased. I am sure his switch was motivated most of all by a resentment of paying taxes (a common thing for former liberals), but at this time, more than ever, we need dissent -- preferably angry dissent -- not fawning defense of the powers that be.

Summary: Not his best book
Review: I found this book to be somewhat tedious, unlike his last book which was very entertaining. It seemed as though Miller is just going through the motions on this book, and lost some of his humor.

Summary: Outrageous fun!!
Review: I received this book as a gift and let it sit for awhile before pulling it off the shelf last weekend and getting through the pages in a couple hours. Funny funny stuff. Miller has an insight into topics like no one else. I've only seen his show a few times, but I know these "rants" are a collection of the rants from the show. Topics include lousy jobs, education, the Clintons, reality shows, government, football, and the media. No one is safe around Dennis Miller. Sometimes when you watch him live you can't understand half of the stuff he talks about because of his obscure references to other things. Having the book at least you've got it in writing and can double back to see what he was talking about. That makes understanding him a whole lot easier and it's even funnier once you understand what he's talking about. If you like his comedy this book is worth having. Funny stuff here.

Summary: You can't be funny while sucking up to the establishment
Review: It just doesn't work. He used to come across as mildly subversive (though he was never really that subversive), but now he's ranged himself with the forces of the current administration. That just makes him an agent of the current state propaganda machine.

Since the president doesn't really have a vital need for Miller's services, Miller just comes across as a pathetic, boot-licking toady. Who does he speak for? Why does he bother?
