Rating: Summary: Provides a good understanding of the game Review: Although the book can be a little preachy, John Patrick takes you thoroughly through every aspect of the game. If you want to get serious about craps, this is the book to read. Not for aggressive gamblers who want to hit it big overnight.
Rating: Summary: Systems, systems, systems Review: Although this book is a bit preachy, I think it is one of Patrick's best. There are many good systems in this book. You may not agree with them, but that is what various theories are all about. The book is readable, laid out well, and very easy to understand. GIve this book a chance.

Rating: Summary: DO NOT PLAY CRAPS UNTIL YOU'VE READ THIS BOOK! Review: John Patrick forgot more about the game of craps than most of us know. This book will make you a stronger player no matter what your level may be. His advice is invaluable to all gamblers but especially to the non-professional craps player. Even if you've been playing the game for fifty years, you will benefit from the no nonsense common sense observations here. This book will more than pay for itself immediately on your next visit to a casino. It takes you from a kindergarten to a Ph.D. level. The novice can become an excellent player from this one book. Buy it. You'll be sorry if you don't.
Rating: Summary: A must-buy if you want to play craps Review: John Patrick is probably one of the most controversial gambling authors in America. My personal opinion is that he is sexist and egotistical --- but if you have ever stood at a craps table for longer than ten minutes, you just can't argue with his Big Four and Little Three. There is a lot of repetition in both this book and the Advanced Craps book, but that's because we gamblers tend to be greedy and undisciplined, and it takes someone telling us something TWENTY TIMES before we get it through our thick heads. Every time I have lost big, it has been because I have violated one of John's cardinal rules. The systems? Well, no system is perfect, so take them or leave them, but memorize the Big Four, Little Three, and all the information that goes with them. (Hopefully, John has worked out his few editing snafu's by now...*grin*).
Rating: Summary: The Only Way to Beat the Tables Review: John Patrick is, by far, the authority on gambling- especially at the tables. I have gone from loser (big time) to winner by studying his books and methods. John Patrick's Craps contians not only the best approach to craps ever put on paper, but also gives the reader a foundation with which to attack all games in a casino. My personal experience with Mr. Patrick's books has enabled me to master five different table games. I have become known and respected by many casino personal in Reno, NV as a tough player. I win small amounts consistently. Futhermore, the foundation I have recieved has enabled me to actually learn how to be a competitor (and a fierce one at that) at the low-limit poker games in the Nevada casinos. Be forwarned: John's style is like that of a coach. If you are really timid or thin-skinned, it may not be the book for you (then again, gambling may not be for you either). But, if you are a competitor whose desire is to win, this and all of Mr. Patrick's books are priceless!
Rating: Summary: A waste of time Review: John Patrick's gambling strategy espouses a risk averse philosophy that does little to help the player in the long run. For example, he advocates placing the any craps bet to hedge the pass line wager. Any "gambling expert" can tell you that hedging does not work. Furthermore, the house edge on the any craps bet is over 11%! Another problem with his book is the "big four". First of all, money management "systems" have no effect on the long term winnings of the player. No matter what "system" the player uses, his/her winnings will fall on a curve dictated by the expectation of the game being played. According to Patrick, however, they are a cardinal rule to gambling success. Lastly, trends can only be seen in hindsight. If you are interested in learning craps, buy another book.
Rating: Summary: Use it! Use it! Use it! Review: Mr. Patrick is a gambling genius! After reading, and FOLLOWING, Johns' systems, I have found they really, really work! In just one week I have increased my winnings 400%! (Individual results may vary) Thank you Mr. Patrick for showing me a way to cut my losses in craps!
Rating: Summary: This book zeroes in on Money Management Review: My Theories on gambling are very conservative. You don't have to like my abrasive explanations but you gotta like the results. I harp on getting you to use Money Management. Will you listen? I dunno, but the systems can' t hurt you.
Rating: Summary: The Patrick System is first-rate Review: None of the previous reviewers have mentioned the most important thing about this book: the Patrick System. This method of playing craps, which he explains about two thirds of the way through the book (and which begins with the brilliant move of betting both the "Pass Line" AND "Don't Pass" at the same time!!) gives the bettor the lowest vig (best odds) against the house of any system I know...
