Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Razor-sharp
Review: Although I did not agree with Miller entirely, he had me thinking and laughing . A perfect mix.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I didn't think this guy was that intelligent...
Review: He has an opinion, and in my book, a pretty darn well educatedone. He used analogies I was shaking my head at wondering where hecame up with these from, and if the reading public would fully understand them. I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, Mom, it's not for you. And anyone else that hasn't quite grown into big boys and girls. However, if you can get past the four letter words that sometimes add just the right touch, and other times are mearly annoying and get in the way, this is a pretty good book. Much better than I expected. No matter who you are, what you do or don't do, what you believe in, or don't believe in, there is something in here for you that will touch the very center of who you are. Two rants proved especially touching for me.. the one on travel. Not only how colorful, but how true. I know the guy gaffer taping the twine to the fridge box!!! He crushed a prize piece of pottery I carried from Kuala Lumpur to Boston only to sit next to this clown from the Chicago.

Summary: Dennis Miller : The Rants
Review: Should be required listening for all potential teachers, parents, right-wing Christians and politicians. Heck, it should be required listening for existing teachers, parents, right-wing Christians and politicians anyway, so let's just strap them down and pump up the volume! Makes you really revel in the fantasy of making Pat Buchannon's brain explode like one of those androids that kidnapped Mudd in Star Trek because he couldn't handle the intake of actual human logic. I would also love to see a college course or town hall meeting on the topics discussed in The Rants--although humor comes first here, there is an underlying plea for sanity and hope that Americans will get off their collective rumps and think for themselves instead of paying someone else to do it. Definately invest in the tapes rather than the book because Miller's tone of voice will not only clue you in to what he means but no one can quite say the f-word like him and STILL sound like Plato's stepchild accepting a Nobel Prize

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fred, do you really think Dennis Miller is sexy???
Review: With Dennis Miller you either love his act, or you find him unbearably annoying and hate it. Count me in with the former. Like George Carlin's "Brain Droppings", Dennis Miller's humor comes across as well on the printed page as it does during a live performance

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Dennis Miller For President
Review: Get the audio version of his Rants for that unusual Dennis Miller style and pace. Obscure references and all, he presents 35 rants that will make you laugh, think, and want to just screem out "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore." Dennis Miller is a clear breath of fresh air in this world of carbon monoxide journalism and talking head editorial commentary

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Dennis Miller is brillant and sexy on tv or in print!!!!!
Review: Dennis always somehow manages to make me laugh even in print. He keeps his pace!!!I LOVE HIM !!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: for political types & fans of Dennis Miller this is worth it
Review: If you are a fan of Dennis Miller, or his sharp, witty, and often on point sense of humor, this is one of the better books to spend time with. His rapier like wit knows no bounds in that there is no one person or group that is safe from his attacks. And with the occational "you know he may be right" tag it can give you a new way of looking at things we take for granted.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Chalk another one up for Den. This book ruled.
Review: Snappy, cutting remarks that make you say "Ya I hear ya Den-man. An Impressive writeup that dropped the hammer on every thing from O.J. to infomercials. Another wound to the inner child of anyone who got on Miller's bad side. Of coarse that's just my opinion I could be wrong

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: You'll Laugh Out Loud
Review: Finally, a book of "Rants." Miller and Rooney have selected a broad range of topics from the series and gathered them into what amounts to a tome of timely sociological and political commentary. These "essays" are both humorous and thought provoking at the same time. More than once you'll find yourself laughing aloud at some of the off the wall references made while commenting on such topics as OJ Simpson, Victimless Crime, and What is Right with America. If this book has one fault, it is that it is too short. For anyone who wished they had taped Dennis Miller's rambling monologues from his HBO show, this book is for you. And for those of you who may have never watched the show, you can get a taste of what you have been missing.

Summary: RANT ON MR. MILLER!
Review: Any fan of Dennis Miller will want to read this book! Any fan of high-brow intellectual comedy will want to read this book! Any fan of current political attitudes (with a touch of political incorrectness) will want to read this book!

Dennis Miller is like the Rosetta Stone to high-I.Q., high references, and high laughter comedy. The Rants give him a chance to vent on topics ranging from: Parenting, Religion, Fame, Air Travel, and Civility. Unlike other comic tomes written by Jay leno, Drew Carey, and Bill Maher, you'll actually need to pay close attention as you laugh because Miller buries jokes within jokes. In fact, I had to venture over to my Webster's Dictionary just to look up a few words that were laced within a Rant...and then I found myself laughing even harder.

The only minor point that stands between The Rants and a 5-star rating is the fact that for the most part Miller's Rants are simply word-for-word translations of monlogues on his HBO show (mixed with a few comedic segments from his various concerts). However, if you're not an avid viewer of either of these areas then you'll be able to read and enjoy fresh material.

As for books written by comedians, I'd place The Rants alongside Jerry Seinfeld's Classic "SEIN-LANGUAGE" and George Carlin's "Brain Droppings". All are guaranteed to make you laugh...plenty!
