Rating: Summary: "This book is good but way too short." Review: "I really enjoyed the book ,but is was over way too soon.I read it in an afternoon.Bill skips around a little too much and never really lets you in too close. But if you love golf and Bill Murray it's a good read"
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: A clever look at Murray's life long fascination with golf, but lacking in depth. For those looking for any insight into Murray look elsewhere. Padded with extra commentary by golf pros, PGA officials and friends this book will often bring a smile to your face but it is ultimately forgettable.
Rating: Summary: Hoping for more Review: A clever look at Murray's life long fascination with golf, but lacking in depth. For those looking for any insight into Murray look elsewhere. Padded with extra commentary by golf pros, PGA officials and friends this book will often bring a smile to your face but it is ultimately forgettable.
Rating: Summary: This book is a triple bogey.... Review: As a long-time fan of Bill Murray, I was completely disappointed by this book...the anecdotes never rise above the mundane. I can honestly say I didn't laugh once while reading the book, nor did I once note in an appreciative manner a particularly deft turn of phrase. The Bill that comes across is a know-it-all kind of stuck in his ways, the guy who's undeniably brilliant but probably not that much fun to be around.
Rating: Summary: PURE DRIBBLE Review: As with the Steve Martian book, these 2 works of comedy need to be put in there place. They have to be the funiest works of comedy literature ever. This book kept me laughing, I couldn;t put it down. And all you people who said you love Bill but didn;t like the book, then you don't love Bill you just think you do. This book is Bill being honest and funny. I am a huge fan since 1984, when Ghostbusters came out, and I was only 2 years old. So save me from your whin, Murray is a genious, one of the few and last of the true comidian who will do anything to make you laugh. So buy this book, I loved it, and I think I'll go read it again.
Rating: Summary: Good but too short Review: At times this book is typical Bill Murray, wisecracking and cynical. Most of the stories he tells are amusing. However the book is much too short. You'll be finished reading it before you know it. It seems this book could have been a lot better with just a little more effort by Mr. Murray.
Rating: Summary: Blue-collar journey into blue-blood sport Review: Bill has written an excellent paeon to golf. So he's got that going for him. Which is nice.
Rating: Summary: Terribly disappointing! Review: Bill Murray is a wonderful visual comedian. He should stick to that. This rambling discourse on his life and golf exploits may bring back humorous memories to himself, but for the most part, it leaves the reader wondering just what the heck Bill is going on about. I love Bill Murray the comedic actor, but this book is simply not worth the paper it was printed on and certainly not worth the time I wasted reading it. If negative stars were allowed, I would give this book -4 stars.
Rating: Summary: I was expecting better Review: Bill Murray is one of the funniest people in television and motion pictures today. Unfortunately he seems to have wandered into entertainment territories unknown- books. Although it has its moments, this book is nothing more than a collection of inside jokes and innuendoes about Mr. Murray's life on and off the golf course. Difficult to follow and understand, the first half of the book is so disjointed and scattered it made me not want to even put in the effort to read the second half. Bill, I love ya, but please stick to what you're best at, don't quit your day job!
Rating: Summary: Not a Masterspiece Review: bill murray is probably my favorite actor of all time, so naturally i wanted this book, albeit my lack of interest in golf. i was disappointed however, because it does not offer any of the things one (well, i) hoped for. the book does not head in any direction - the biographical info is completely wacko-chronistic. it does not go into any detail on bill's movie (ghostbusters? stripes?) or television (snl??) career. there is not even any conclusion/closure or insight at the end to leave fulfillment. basically, the book is a bunch of golf stories tossed together into a book, and promoted as a biography. of course, that is just not my type of book. others will love this for what it is.
