Summary: So dated - It's hard to read.
Review: I am relatively new to craps. I can play but don't really understand the nuance of the game. Saw the reviews and bought it.

I find John's banter intolerable: "macho type dude, with muscles bigger than Dolly Pardon's trademarks," "Does Sophia Loren look like a boy?". I'm sure it a generational thing. It's kind of like having Buddy Love teach you trigonometry.

Anyway, some good information that's just really hard to get to. I'm looking for something modern and less dramatic.

Summary: Amateur Ramblings
Review: I have been buying Crap books, since the 1980's. This is the most information that I have seen on any book of Craps. This is a must book for advance players. Some of the people he writes about, remind you of yourself. He hits close to home. I have used this to update, my own personal system. I was a winner of craps before this book. The Hedge information,The break down of all bets, money management,is very valuable. Great Price.

Summary: This is an excellent no nonsense book on craps.
Review: I knew nothing about craps before I read this book and viewed the videos by Patrick. I wanted to play craps but was too intimidated to try to learn in the casino. I now know that at the table training would have been a costly mistake.I felt confident in my first craps game after reading the book and even got compliments from a dealer on the discipline I showed. John gives a realistic vision of what to expect and how to handle your money whether you win or lose.

Summary: It gives you an insight about money management on craps
Review: It takes several months to read this book completely. This book does not drive you to go to casinos. However, the author emphasizes that money management is more important than knowing the rules of craps. John Patrick argues to the reader to have the feelings of "Bank Roll" and "Charting the table". Yes, that was really important lesson that I have learned from him. I recommend to buy this book if you want see it how the craps professional manages his winning! Thank you for reading my comments. From, wyse at Seoul, Korea.

Summary: This book is a gambler's bible.
Review: John has a style all his own. He pulls no punches, insults his readers, and offers them the chance to start winning for a change. Money management is the name of the game and John is the best. He teaches you how to gamble smart. How to leave the table a winner. Don't read this book unless you want to win. Forget the pie in the sky other gambling writers tell you about their system. John lays it all out in a easy to read manner. A book you'll read over and over again. Great to read just before a trip to the tables.

Summary: Great book for the advanced craps player
Review: John Patrick has a knack for writing and keeps things interesting. He adds bits of humor to it to keep the book flowing. He tells the truth about typical scenarios at the craps table, and what you can expect to win, no boasting or exaggerations here. He's real, and his strategies are very much inline with how one should play. If you really want to perfect your game, pick up his book and don't just read it, study it...he knows many won't like the way he plays, but if you want to play smart, and don't have dreams of winning thousands in a day's play...this is the way to train yourself to play.

Summary: Amateur Ramblings
Review: John Patrick knows very little about the game of craps from a mathematical point of view. His book is a lot of hot air about discipline and walking away when you're ahead but you coul dbe ahead after the first bet! There's a lot of sound and fury in this book but it signifies you should look elsewhere for craps guidance!

Summary: Advanced Craps Review
Review: Personally, I read the special 600pp edition of this book, available through the publisher, but I imagine this one is similar, and that the extended version is just that, extended. This is a great book because it stresses the most important factor in gambling, money management. There is no way, no matter what anyone says, no matter which system you play, to gain an edge on the house in craps. The best you can achieve is close to but not exactly 50-50. This book is the best I have read, in terms of money management. Some people may not like to hear the reality of gambling(IT WILL NOT MAKE YOU RICH! )but John Patrick's book is exactly that, REALITY! If you want a get rich quick scheme, don't buy ANY gambling books! If you want to minimize your losses and maybe come home a small winner, then this is a great book for you. What I like about John Patrick is that he doesn't preach a system, he simply gives you ideas, and states that any systems or variation is fine, as long as you know how to manage your money. This book is great for those who want to know about the reality of gambling. By far the best book on craps I have ever read!

Summary: Finest craps strategy ever written
Review: The lingo in the book is very out of date, I mean the guy refers to Dolly and Lonnie as the current babes! However, the money management and discipline information in this book are invaluable to any gambler. You also get the impression that Mr. Patrick is a "good guy" and that counts alot with me. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to enhance their craps strategy.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This will change the way you view gambling forever!
Review: This book is very well written, concise, and very pratical in language. I suggest reading the Beginner's Guide to Craps (John Patrick) before reading this one. This book assumes you already know basic craps strategy. Mr. Patrick covers ALL aspects of gambling, not only how to hold down your losses, but even more importantly, how to manage yourself when winning. EXCELLENT BOOK!!!
