Rating: Summary: Decent, but not as good as Foley's Review: This book turned out exactly how I thought it would turn out, decent. It is nowhere near Foley's book in terms of content, meaning the length as it is only about 300 pages, and humor as The Rock tries to make you laugh, but with Mick, it comes naturally. But, there was one saving grace about this book and that was the backstage look at WrestleMania 15. To read about him and Austin's strategy before the big main event was really cool in that you can see what goes through their minds before their match and for that I give it 3 stars.
Rating: Summary: BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT Review: EVEN though I am a one of the millions and millions of the Rock's fanz, i truly did not like this book. It clearly shows that this book is not Rock's own words nor was it interesting. Unlike this book, Mankind's was a classic. I think that the Rock should have waited at least till he became a legend to "write" this book.
Rating: Summary: Beware of comparing... Review: Some folks seem to want to compare this book with Mick Foley's... but you can't do that; two incredibly different men with completely different upbringings. This book, on its own, is quite good, and it does its job of telling The Great One's story. I think that some readers, however, will be disappointed because The Rock is actually literate and eloquent when he wants to be; his in-ring personna is simply an amplification of what he really is. And that's just fine by me. If you bought it and hate it, that's really too bad, but by all means open your mind to a side of Dwayne Johnson we'll surely not see on Raw is War.
Rating: Summary: The Rock says..whatever he feels Review: This book was awesome. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. The Rock describes his life in amazing detail that made me feel like I was there watching as his life unfolded. The last couple of chapters were a bit lacking, but his tribute to Owen was absolutely beautiful. This book is a must read for all of the millions and millions of the Rock's fans.
Rating: Summary: Smack Down Sensational! Review: This book was awesome. As soon as I recieved it I couldn't put it down. Anybody who is a wrestling fan would enjoy reading about the world's most famous entertainer. This book puts you in the rocks shoes and you feel like your living his life. Get it fast it will be a best seller!
Rating: Summary: Learn Real Life Experience Review: This book depicts The Rock as aperson who was a kid next door. How he grew up and how he fought his demons. We all, especially growing up kids can definitely learn a lot from this.I saw someone complained about The Rock not writing the book himself like ManKind, I thank The Rock for keeping the English straight, simple to the point and all the time telling us his story directly, not through an interpretter. Must Read. Thank You Rocky. Ali
Rating: Summary: Good grief Review: I've never read Arn Anderson's book, but I did read Mick Foley's. This book here, "The Rock Says" comes no where close to Foley's, and I'm pretty sure not as close to Arn's. Maybe if Mr. Johnson had written it himself, instead of letting someone else write his memoirs, it would have been better. In Mick's book, he talks about what it's like to fall off a cage, to wrestle for 200 dollars a week. In Duane's book, after the first couple chapters, he turns into The Rock, and wont break character. And after listening to him spout catch-phrases for over a year now, it gets old, and this book is no exception. A waste of money and time...
Rating: Summary: Someone think's he's Mick Foley! Review: I think that the Rock needs to stick to wrestling, because his book is boring. Just because it worked for Mick Foley, who is a good author, doesn't necessarily mean that Dwayne Johnson is a good writer--he didn't even write this book. Anyway, half the people from DELAWARE and CANADA who reviewed this book haven't even read it-- and admit it! The Rock is a hollow, friendless character whose only schtick is to talk in 3rd person and repeat the same catch-phrases incessantly. Rocky "Gimmick" Maivia. What a joke!
Rating: Summary: The Great One's Tome Review: This is the most electrifying book that I have ever read, except for Mankind's book. The Rock exhibits much poise and talent for his young age. His parents raised him well; he obviously loves his family-he dedicated the book to his mom. Do you like pancakes?
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS AWESOME.....I wish I could give it 100++ stars Review: The Rock's book is absolutely awesome! It gives you plenty of insight on Dwayne Johnson's life as a child, a teenager, and now as the one of the hottest superstars in the WWF. He talks about many personal family situations, prejudice encounters, and much more. I really give him props for talking so openly and honestly about so many things in his life. 'The Rock Says' is the best book I've ever read ...literally. The best part of the book is when he talks about how he's willing to give a fan a handshake, an autograph, etc. almost anytime. I absolutely loved this book and recommend it to everyone - wrestling fan or non wrestling alike.
