Summary: Beatrice and Kristin--a love story!
Review: I loved Kristin Von Kreisler's two previous books, The Compassion of Animals and Beauty in the Beast, but For Bea is even better. What makes it so good is the feeling that the author is speaking directly and intimately from the heart, sharing a story that is one of the central stories of her life. Kristin and Beatrice (whose picture on the cover, by the way, is worth the price of the book) truly met not as person and Beagle, but as soul and soul. How I wish I could have met Beatrice! She sounds like a soul truly worth knowing. And with this beautiful book, I feel that I have known her, just a little bit, myself. I do recommend this book very highly to anyone who wants to know more about the mysterious ways of love.

Summary: Dog Lover
Review: I saw this book many times up for auction at the Beagle Rescue sites but was afraid to purchase it because I thought it would be too sad. I read the book slowly one night and found it to be a heartfelt story about a much loved pet. As a beagle owner, I could relate, and laugh, about the stubborn beagle behavior of Bea. A little preachy in the end about what you can do about animal experimentation but otherwise a great read for beagle lovers.

Summary: Very moving and inspiring story
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was an eye opener about how terrible the effects of cruelty can be on an animal, but love and patience win out in the end. This is a very personal story about Bea and how thee author and her husband bring this abandoned victim back to the world, how it affected their own life and relationship. Very funny at times, sad at times, but uplifting and encouraging.

Summary: Heart Warming and Wonderful
Review: Kristin Von Kreisler's tribute to Bea, a beagle that she obviously loved with all her heart, is a must read for everyone. I was saddened over the possibilities that might have been the first years of Bea's life, I was encouraged at every step Bea took towards healing, I cried at set backs, laughed at her antics and fell totally in love with Bea.

Summary: The Dog Who Got Away
Review: On one level, this is the story of Bea, an abused, bedraggled, emotionally broken beagle who has escaped from a research lab. The author finds her by accident, takes her home and, through infinite patience and understanding, gradually brings out the happy and sociable animal Bea was meant to be. The wallop comes in the final chapter, a powerful, solidly grounded and reasoned call to arms against unnecessary animal testing-and most of it is unnecessary-that every year takes the lives of some 20 million animals in the U.S. alone. A must read for every pet-owner.

Summary: Enlightenment
Review: Prior to reading this book I had thought very little about the use of animals in labs. On its face, a sweet story about a dog, it is a very gentle introduction to a number of very important social and political issues. It is primarily a story about the life changing power of compassion. But it also encourages the reader to question a philosophy of cruelty which exists, perhaps not so secretly in our society and, in that respect, has a much broader relevance that the actual scope of the story. The book inspired me to make inquiries that has broadened my awareness to the extent that I can say Bea did, in fact, change my life as well.

Summary: A Love Story
Review: The story of Bea is a delightful lesson in love. Yes, love changes lives in profound and unexpected ways. Pets like Bea have the capacity to touch millions of people each day if only we open our eyes and allow them to do so. We can all learn, grow, and become more aware of ourselves through our relationships with our pets. Kristen von Kreisler's capacity for love is truly remarkable, shown through her patience and undying devotion to Bea. They were truly a match, doing for one another what only love can accomplish. All dog-owners will laugh, cry, and see themselves in Bea's story. And then, in the end, perhaps we will be moved to advocate for the thousands of lab animals, like Bea, who endure unnecessary torture at the hand of us humans. A touching story ... and a wake-up call for all of us.

Summary: A must for beagle lovers and rescuers!
Review: This book is a must for anyone who loves beagles, or anyone who has taken in an animal in need and nursed that animal back to physical and emotional health! Dog lovers will fall for Von Kreisler's touching, amusing story of Bea's transformation from battered-and-broken lab animal to cherished pet. Well written and entertaining, this book made me laugh and cry. I've already recommended it to all my family, friends and fellow beagle rescuers!

Summary: For Bea is a Delight
Review: This is a delightful book; the kind that you read slowly because you don't want it to end. It has humor, insight and depth and is beautifully written. It's the story of how two creatures (human and canine) grow in spirit together from knowing each other. I'll never forget Bea, the beagle.
