Rating: Summary: Kung Fu Book of Caine explores TV's Greatest Eastern Western Review: If you enjoy the classic TV series, Kung Fu, than The Kung Fu Book of Caine is for you. With exclusive commentary from David Carradine (who's written the foreword), this book takes an in-depth look at one of television's most unique TV programs. While President Nixon was holding historic conversations with with China's Chairman Mao, Carradine's Kwai Chang Caine was introducing Asian ways and New Age thought to the American mainstream on a weekly basis (long before Shirley MacLaine and Deepak Chopra). This book also features rare, never-before published photos of the series, the scoop on Bruce Lee's failed attempt to play the lead, Brandon Lee's tie-in with the series, and so much more. I spent years researching the book which I, from the beginning, never envisioned just a TV tome. I wanted to write it for fans of the show, as well as for those interested in philosphy and the Far East. I also made sure to include many TV production aspects for aspiring actors, writers, directors, or anyone who who may be interested in how a television show is created and brought to the screen. I welcome Kung Fu fans, or anyone who reads this book to contact me with commentary, either about the show or the book. My e-mail address is (...)
Rating: Summary: A MUST FOR "KUNG FU" FANS! Review: This book has it all: a show by show guide, photographs, and more pertaining to the best television program ever. I have even more love towards the show after reading this book!
Rating: Summary: great book, some errors Review: This is a great book about a good show. Some things puzzle me, however. Some of the dialogue that is quoted isn't correct (watch your VHS tapes and hear for yourself). Perhaps the author was quoting from the scripts and not the actual episodes. The episode guide is a bit off; for a correct one, pick up an old issue of Epi-Log magazine. BLOOD OF THE DRAGON was a 2-hour episode, NOT a 2-parter (that was done when the show was syndicated). It was also the first episode of season three -- some of the episodes are listed out of order like this, and like the last six. But these are quibbles. It's a really great book and the author did a terrific job. Too bad KUNG FU was ruined by that miserable LEGEND CONTINUES junk made in the 1990's.
Rating: Summary: great book, some errors Review: What a terrific way to re-live and reminisce about the great old days of the original Kung Fu TV show. The book gives a very interesting behind-the-scenes look at the creative and talented writers and actors who worked on the show, and follows with an episode-by-episode synopsis. The book, like the TV show, leaves you wanting more, so I can only hope that more will become available soon. In the meantime, the Book of Caine is a nice addition to any fan's collection.

Rating: Summary: Excellent TV Series...and Book! Review: When this TV show was originally being aired on ABC back in the early 1970's I was a teenager and never watched it.
But several years later in the late '70's while at college in California, reruns were being shown on some station out there in L.A. - and I became hooked.
The flashback scenes with Masters Po and Kan are FANTASTIC, teach insightful lessons of life to live by, and really are the essence of the show.
Pilato's "Kung-Fu Book of Caine" is an absolutely tremendous supplement to the series, and with all the interesting background information he provides, one can appreciate the show even more.
Yesterday I was even inspired to purchase the recently-released DVD of the first two seasons of "Kung-Fu" here on Amazon [...]
