Summary: A great gift for that fisherman in your life!
Review: Chicken Soup for the Fisherman's Soul is a delightful collection of anecdotes by people who love to fish, have gone fishing, or know someone who does or has. Some big names are listed on the cover, but there are delightful stories from unknowns. For instance, Taking the Bait, by Jacqueline Michels, the only one included from Alaska, who tells of fishing for more than . . . well . . . you know, fish. Then, Cary Osborne's Half an Inch to Spare, about the one that didn't get away, she gave it away. And the cartoons will bring a chuckle, if not an outright laugh.

The inspiration here is for a sport that so many people enjoy for just as many reasons. Read it for a laugh, for a sigh, and maybe for a memory.

Summary: Great Father's Day Gift
Review: I was asked to read a fishing story submitted by a friend. I chuckled at the story and started browsing through the book looking for other stories to read. Before I knew it, I had read almost half the book. The fishing stories were not only funny and sometimes emotional, but it brought back childhood memories of when my family would go camping and fish all day long. I love books that can draw any one person into a topic that you may or may not be interested in and keep your interest, and this book does just that!

Summary: What a wonderful collection of stories!
Review: I'm a woman who enjoys fishing and hadn't seen many books that covered my favorite topic from both sides of the gender line. I loved this book! Many of the stories could have been pulled from my own experiences they seemed so familiar. I highly recommend this book for a summer read. I love the fact that I can pick it up, read a story and put it down to do some chores, then pick it up again later without missing a beat. My favorite stories are the Bologna Wars by Tanith Tyler, and Tadpoles Triumph by Banjo Bandolas. I've passed the book on to my children now and they seem to enjoy it as much as I have.

Summary: If You Like to Fish, Feast on This
Review: If you like to fish, this is a book you'll want to savor slowly so it'll last longer. Do what I did: Read one story every night for the next 87 days. You'll crack up, connect with, cry over, delight in, and feast upon a smorgasbord of stories about fishing that will make you impatient for the second serving.

Summary: Too sentimental for me
Review: The Chicken Soup stories follow a formula, and are too sentimental for me. Some people like them though, and that's okay.

Summary: What a wonderful collection of stories!
Review: The stories were very well written with the exception of Jennie Martin. I just don't beleive her stories, though she passes them off as the truth. I also heard that the fish she catches are hand offs from guides. She fly fishes irregularily and posts that she doesn't catch many fish either on her own website. I think she should not have been included with the other illustrious fishing writers.
