Review: I feel that this is a wonderful about life and how to get through it.This detailed book gives you life lessons for acheving your dreams. Jeter tells you that you need to set reachable goals and to always work your hardest. One of his chapters is entitled "Think Before You Act" which is a very wise aspect on life. Also he talksabout not being afriad to fail. In chaptre nine wich is caled "Think before you act" he calls one of his friends who had violated a drug policy and mentioned this saying to him because this problem got him in alot of trouble with baseball and the law. Every one should think aout their actions and the possible consequences involved. i hope that i persawded you to take int rest in this book.

Summary: Justin P. Miller Place, NY Fun from start to end!
Review: I hated baseball and especially the Yankees all of my life. And I was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. This book changed everything. Really. I was so impressed and amazed at the upbringing of this young man, that I actually started watching baseball games to see how he had turned out. Apparently he is doing just fine.
This book should be mandatory reading for every young person 12 years old and counting. It is enjoyable, amusing and informative, without being preachy. It makes you think about your own actions, your own words and how they affect those around you, and ultimately yourself.
I am so jealous that I didn't have parents as dedicated as Derek Jeter's. They are truly the inspiration of this story. And they must be so proud of their son, and their daughter.
This book changed my life. I love baseball. But mostly I love the family unit that developed a promising young athlete into the successful, centered and grounded young man that is Derek Jeter. Terrific work. Excellent outcome. Wonderful book.

Review: I loved this book! Being a Yankee fan, I devour any information that I can find about them. Derek Jeter talks about how he made it to where he is today, and very candidly. I appreciate the fact that he gets personal with his life and allows us, the fans, to experience how he got to be a Yankee. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone! Can't wait to read his next book, GAMEDAY!!

Reading this book always refreshes my outlook on life, it makes me see things in a more positive life. Jeter not only shines on the field, but off the field as well. Review: If you are a true Yankee fan and more importantly a Derek Jeter fan, you need to read this book. His life has been one huge dream, one that I would definitely love to have as well. This book deals with the player's perspective, an inside look and behind the scenes descriptions. This book has many Yankee baseball facts, but it is also a true inspirational book that makes us believe that we can all have a dream and someday, just maybe, manage to live it. When Derek was eight years old, he walked into his parent's bedroom and said he wanted to play for the Yankees. His parents did not brush him aside. They came up with a plan to help their son make his dream a reality and after many long years, they succeeded. Most books are written by authors who do not personally know an athlete, but this book was written by Derek Jeter himself and he tells a very honest and interesting story about his beginnings and how he was able to become a baseball player who makes $10 million dollars a year. Derek is not only a gifted athlete but also a hardworking player who believes success is not about being lucky but about setting goals early and sticking to them. There are many family photos in this book with Derek as a young boy with his mother and father. He tells many stories about his life with them as a young boy. He grew up in an interracial family and tells how that helped define him as the person he is today. Derek also mentions how becoming a role model helped him to start the Turn 2 Foundation, which helps promote a healthy lifestyle for kids through drug and alcohol prevention programs. In my opinion, Derek is a great person, baseball player, and role model for young boys. He has taken the pressure and publicity of being in the spotlight as the "star" of New York City baseball and he has still been able to be the kind of person that young boys and girls can look up to and admire.

Review: If you love Derek Jeter, the Yankees or baseball, you will love this book. If you don't but you have a dream, you will still love this book. Derek Jeter explains the steps to take to achieve your dreams. The steps can be applied to any goal in life not just baseball. I would highly recommend this book to young people with a dream. Well written with lots of great color and b&w photos.
