Summary: Too bad this is probably mostly hype
Review: I saw the movie and the facts here are even more distorted than the movie. Frankly I couldn't read all of this, but wanted to compare the two so I skimmed some of it. I read extensively in the news accounts from both sides of this story and there is very compelling evidence that he did commit murder, there is a lot of made up stuff in this book as there was in the movie. Things are bad enough without a lot of lying like this to exaggerate it. This is a violent guy and the book at least does nothing to dispute that much. In an odd way it is a good read because it is so intense, but a lot of it is fantasy.

Summary: Great book
Review: I saw the movie the Hurricane and I became inspired by the story of Rubin Carter. I have seen the movie 3 times and i have read the book "The Hurricane" by James S. Hirsch but, this is the most discriptive story and you'll find yourself reading it any time you can. I highly recomend this book. It is the best book I have ever readdddd!!!!!!!!!

Summary: The 17th round-a review of the 16th round
Review: I was inspired to read this book when I heard the Bob Dylan song "Hurricane". This amazing book is a moving account of Rubin Carter's life written by Rubin himself while he was in prison. The stories of his life in prison and the battles he fought were great. I couldn't put the book down. The only problem with this book is that it is out of print and very hard to track down. It is defintely one of the best books I have ever read.

Summary: What a book
Review: I'm not an avid reader of books. I think that in my life I've read about 6 books from start to finish. This book is one of them. His life is an amazing/tragic yet inspiring one. The feeling I got after reading this book is that it teaches alot about the human sprit and what it can accomplish when you set your mind to it.

His writing style pulls no stops, He's direct and to the point.

The writing style he adopts gives you a real look at the Rubin Carter, in a way the Movie or other books about him can't.

Want to Know the real Rubin Carter! - Read this book

Summary: emtional
Review: im not much for reading. i did however watch the movie....i was touched by everyone, the whole life of carter. im 29 wht male so i havent see all the racism that many blk americans have gone thru in the past but i do see the present. what i did see in the movie to compare to now is that there is alot, alot of space to fill with love and hope, courage to eliminate hate ! i admire anyone who over comes this...and pray one day my kids will grow up without hate. thanks carter in showing us what anyone can overcome. your a hero , inspiration to many. thanks for reading my review

Summary: Best Book Ever
Review: It is the best book I have ever read. I don't like to read much but I couldn't put it down. A must read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Brilliant and Touching
Review: Obviously no one can write his story better than Rubin himself. This story is both and inspiring story of a man who has never stopped fighting and a terrifying reality check into the American judicial system. This book is filled with an anger that is only kept in check by the author's own love and compassion.

The reader whould of course keep in mind this is an autobiography and therefore is skewed to the writer's point of view and emotional state.
