Summary: Informative about his beginnings and rise to fame.
Review: Ken Shamrock has certainly made a name for himself in the world of NHB fighting. However, I found the book to be a little over the top in self indulgent praise. Who has he beaten? He had a lackluster fight with Taktarov in a super fight. If he is a great submission specialist, how come he couldn't get a submission from a human punching bag like Taktarov? Also, he was completely timid and lost to Dan Severn. He isn't fighting anymore so even though I found the book interesting with regards to his life history, I think people need to put Ken Shamrock's abilities in perspective. I can't recall him defeating anyone of any skill level, and he won't fight anyone anymore anyway. I want to believe in Ken Shamrock's skills, but first I have to see them! Please Ken, return to the UFC and back up the image you created in your informative book. Would you have the courage to fight Tom Erickson (if SEG wants him) or perhaps a UFC veteran with some real skills?

Summary: Personal and informative
Review: Bought the book simply on the name. Was very impressed learning about the lion's den training and submission technices in the second half. But no five star becouse of the superior one sided author giving him a superhuman character. Strongly recemend.

Summary: This book is a great "description" of Shamrocks life
Review: This book shows the life of Ken Shamrock. The description of his past gets mixed up with the biggest fights of his life. I like this book because Shamrocks feelings are as well told as his submission fighting technique.

Summary: A MUST READ!!!!
Review: Even if you aren't an NHB or Pro Wrestling fan, I strongly encourage reading this book. Although I am, it provides a realistic look at the hardships and rewards life can bring. Not to mention great pictures from Ken's childhood to current. In part 2 it reveals tips for the success in dealing with submissions. It can be slightly confusing at times, but will eventually pay off. In conclusion, my props out to Ken Shamrock, Richard Hanner and Calixtro Romas for colaborating such a fine work.

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: Ken Shamrock is without question the best conditioned athlete in the world today. His book is an inspiration to anyone involved in any type of hand to hand combat. I found the section on submission especially helpful because it enabled me to break the arm of my wife's ex-husband.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is the best book I have ever read
Review: I really enjoy this book the author really is a great writter and ken shamrock is one man who went through alot. So Over all this book is the best. The reason for this is because now I can make someone submit if I need to for self defense. Ken is an outstanding role modle I think he is the best....

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Well written, but a disappointment.
Review: This book is well written, informative, and entertaining. Why the two star rating, you ask? The author's positive bias destorys the book's credability. The book didn't need this bias in order to describe Ken's triumph over his past and his inner demons. He is a man who has gone from being a thug to a more complete human being (who now plays a Thug on TV.) This is the real story, and his wins and losses (especially against Severn) doesn't change that. Too bad the author didn't understand this.

Summary: Inside look at the world's most dangerous man
Review: part 1 is quick, simple reading that provides a look into the life of ken shamrock, the world's most dangerous man. i enjoyed the inside look at ken's thoughts about the UFCs. this part also provides an overview of ken's life growing up, helping you to understand his motivations and inner rage. part 2 alone is worth the full price of the book. it is filled with valuable information for any serious shootfighter or grappler.

Summary: Good, not great
Review: I am such a fan of NHB fighting that I was going to buy this book regardless of how good it was. I actually expected it to be written sort of like a long "Black Belt Magazine" article, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the biography section of the book was written. There are alot of things in the book that even the most ardent Shamrock fan would not know, but the information sometimes has to be taken with a grain of salt because of occasional pro-Shamrock bias. For instance, it was written that Dan Severn ran away from Shamrock in their fight in UFC IX. Come on! The second section of the book, submission fighting instruction, is not as well done and made me want to give the book three and one half stars rather than four, but I guess this isn't Star Search.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Shamrock Fans MUST READ
Review: If you are a Ken Shamrock fan you owe it to yourself to get this book. It will tell you everything you ever wanted to hear.
