Rating: Summary: It's unfortunate that he is mean. Review: Like the infamous Wayne Hill of the National Reptile Breeders expo in Daytona Beach Florida Bobby Knight has come to the conclusion that he is above criticism and can yell and scream and anyone he wants and generally treat people like crap. I don't like B.K. anymore than I like Wayne Hill. It's it a coincidence that they both are enamoured with the late Rev. Finis Jennings Dake and that they listen to U2 albums non-stop? I don't think so.
Rating: Summary: A Great Read!!! Review: Often criticized, often misunderstood, Bob Knight has finally delivered with his own words. Many men who had had success in athletics simply write and autobiography, but Knight's book is much more. While telling the story of his life, Coach Knight also provides us detailed information on his coaching philosophy and theories. Young coaches, and even old ones, can certainly learn a lot from Knight. Too many people involved in athletics today don't seem to understand what they're trying to accomplish. Knight fully explains that the goal of athletics, in particular basketball, is so much more than simply winning games. He gives an in-depth look at what he has tried to accomplish over the years. He explains that he has tried to not only teach his players about the game, but about things that relate to their lives. Reading this book was an educational and entertaining experience. Anyone involved in athletics can benefit by reading it, and I would most definitely recommend it.

Rating: Summary: Thanks for the Memories Mr. Knight Review: Thanks for the memories Mr. Knight Yes, I am a Hoosier, and yes I am an avid IU fan. Does that mean I've switched teams because Mr. Knight was fired from Indiana. No, not by any means have I done that, but I certainly have watched a few of the televised games of Texas Tech. Do I think that Indiana University could have handled the dismissal of Coach Knightin a better manner? That is for others to decide, but I can imagine the disappointment, frustration and agony he must have experienced upon being terminated after 29 years at the helm of Indiana University basketball. In this book Coach Knight has allowed the sports enthusiast to see another side of him and the discipline that it has taken not only for him, but the teams he has had the opportunity to be a part of and coach. At first glance, it would appear that he drops a lot of names of individuals that have traversed through the sports world with impressive records, not only in basketball, football, golf and even some very influential politicians. As you read further you realize the vast amount of knowledge he has gained and utilized to build the productive programs that he has been involved with just by the association of some of these individuals. It is apparent throughout his book that he is very intellectual, with a tremendous sense of humor and wit, which has not always been appreciated, or shared, with some of the people that he has encountered throughout his career. I found myself chuckling and even openly laughing at some of the recollections into his past. Yes, Coach Knight demands loyalty, discipline, and tremendous work ethic towards succeeding in sports. Are the true rewards on or off the court, or the successes his past players have obtained after leaving his program? He truly is a teacher and his passion for basketball is ever presence throughout his book. It is amazing how many of his players have gone on to be productive coaches, which in itself speaks volumes of what he has taught them. Has Mr. Knight been overexposed by the news media? Has Coach Knight been treated fairly over the years by individuals who have made a lot of money reporting, analyzing, and rehashing some of the off color incidences he has been involved in? Does Mr. Knight need to change? As noted in the book the by athletic director Gerald Myers of Texas Tech., Coach Knight 'seems more relaxed and more content than he has been for several years.' That is an observation that I imagine most individuals have noticed that have followed his career. Over the years I have witnessed numerous flagrant outburst and transgressions by various coaches that have been televised, without as much of a blip mentioned by commentators, or media alike. Yet, Mr. Knight has been the topic of discussion by the media hounds for years. I can't even begin to recount the number of times the chair-throwing incidence has been revisited over and over by the spin masters in the past few years. You would have thought, as much attention that this one incidence in particular has obtained that Coach Knight hit someone over the head, or directly threw the chair at someone specifically, which we all know didn't happen. Mr. Knight's critics would appear to have made a lot of mileage out of the few of the less attractive things Coach Knight has done. In his book Coach Knight admits and talks about some of the anger management problems and some of the things he wished he hadn't done. Was that sufficient to appease his critics, or merely another opportunity for them to find additional chinks in his personal character? I do not believe that Mr. Knight has written this book in an attempt to sway or convince anyone who debates his character to switch sides. It is just possible that Coach Knight has a valid point, if one looks at the totality of his bad behavior compared to the positive accomplishments over the years, the scales can't even begin to tip towards the negative aspects. Or are the critics still using the zero tolerance for Mr. Knight, as did Myles Brand, and another standard for all the other coaches that have done similar things. Still the media hounds and those critics that analyze Coach Knight would like us all to believe that he is merely an arrogant bully just waiting to victimize someone else. Did Mr. Knight need to go back into coaching to stroke his ego, or to break records? The answer to that is probably not. His dedication to teaching, and his passion for basketball and the athletes he coaches exemplifies what this man is about. Such as the work ethic and determination that he has provided towards having the distinction, of being among the schools with the highest percentage of athletes graduating from college while going through his basketball program, that in itself has continued to helped them to succeed even after their sports life has finished. Yes Mr. Knight thanks for the memories, those fantastic years and not so fantastic years that IU and the fans alike have been allowed to be apart of during your tenure at Indiana. The legacy you leave here will be hard pressed to duplicate or surpass, and the history of Indiana basketball will forever be indebted for your contributions you have made over the years. I personally wish Mr. Knight the very best in his endeavors at Texas Tech, and the success that he will undoubtedly bring to the basketball program, the players and the school. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone who has the ability to look past the imperfections of Coach Knight and merely appreciate the contributions and legacy that he has made during his coaching profession.
Rating: Summary: The MYTH, The LEGEND Review: The book, Knight: My Story is an auto-biography that begins in his childhood up to Texas Tech. As good as this book is, he is very bias. The tone he uses to descibe the people he likes versus the people he doesn't like is quite noticeable. Despite this he is a creditable author because he lived the expeirence. As you read this book you will notice that Coach Knight always puts himself in a goodlight when he talks about the incidents with players and fans that have made him famous. Overall, I love Coach Knight and I love this book.

Rating: Summary: Its a pretty decent book. Review: This book is about the story of Bobby Knight's life. His experiences at Indiana and a little bit about coaching at Texas Tech. The book does tell a very good story. it is very well writin, but it seems like the book will never end. If you are in to sports hardcore and are a big fan of the legendary Bobby Knight, then this is a book you will enjoy.
Rating: Summary: The General Review: This book teaches you about the college game of basketball. Bobby knight is his name. Bobby knight reached the 700 victories as the youngest coach ever to do so. So you know that he is a hell of a coach. He goes through each allegation and sets the record straight, even admitting guilt on occasion. He wanted the best out of his players and got it. His temper might of ran high but the players respected him and so did the assistant coaches.. I earned a new respect for the guy after hearing how highly he speaks of those in his environment. He cares about the people that he met. He tells you where his knowledge of the game comes from. He will always be the best coach ever to coach college basketball!
Rating: Summary: Knight ego bigger than ever Review: To all of you who thought Bobby K. is the biggest a**hole in all of sports: You're wrong! He's Mother Teresa. Or, at least that's what this book tells you. The man presents himself as the greatest coach - no, the greatest human being ever here. Believe him or believe everyone else - you choose.
Rating: Summary: One for the ages Review: What a book. It is filled with info I never really knew. Never an Indiana basketball fam, I was always a Bobby Kight fan. I finished the book in one reading. I could not put it down. His love for fishing and hunting is explained in his book.
