Summary: Lessons of the Game: The Untold Story of High School Footbal
Review: I would highly recommend this book for all young athletes who aspire to compete at a higher level. It is an excellent example of how a young athlete can be convinced he is immune to the rules of the game. As a former high school athlete and coach it also serves as a warning for parents and coaches on how their own behavior can have devasting effects on a young athlete's career and life.

Summary: Lessons of the Game: A Must Read!!
Review: Lessons of the Game is truly an amazing book. Although a non-avid reader, I recently picked up this book and read it within two days. Derek's writing style is very easy to understand. His choice of words to describe things made me know exactly where he was coming from and what it was like at points in Derek's life. I found myself laughing out loud several times as he described scenes as well as almost shedding a tear. This book gives the reader an inside look into Derek's life and true test of character. I believe this book is for the young, old, athletes, non-athletes, or anyone who is ready for an excellent book to read! It is a must read and won't be put down until finished!!!

Summary: The best sports story I've read since "Friday Night Lights"
Review: Lessons of the Game was not just a story about sports. It was an emotional, shocking, yet motivational and inspiring tale about how we all can survive life and it's lessons. It encouraged me to welcome hardships and trials in life, but to ultimately expect a victory by dreaming and beliving that you can reach the stars.

Summary: Lessons of the Game...................truely appalling!
Review: READ IT, BUY IT, PASS IT ON! This is at best what I can say about Lessons of the Game. Derek Sparks submerges his readers with scandal and corruption which leaves them baffled. His profound, unfortunately true, story of manipulation and lies within our society is well written. If nothing else, it will provoke readers(athletes or non athletes) to see what is truely important: God, Family, Love, Education, etc.

Summary: HUMAN CONTACT IS IMPORANT
Review: Realistic & impressive! I found myself asking what I would have done in the same situation? This book will do a "BLITZ" on all your 5 senses and you will find your self laughing on some pages, crying on other pages, & shaking your head on most of them. It's a remarkable story told from the eyes of a developing child bursting into a world not totally suitable for him. This is an important read for anyone who loves the games of sports or has children who are interested in the athletic arena. This story is more than a freedom train. It is a story about a remarkable mother, the challenges of family, a relentless system & an incredibly gifted African-American Male with the heart of a thousand lions.

Summary: A Great Story about Greed and Corruption.
Review: This book took me by surprise. Not knowing anything about Derek Spaarks but that he played football at Washington State University I had didn't have any expectations for this book. The education I received from this book is unexplainable, anything you want to know about prep athletes and what goes on at high level high school sports is learned here. Not only is the story entirely true but the story will relate to every reader in one way or another. A classic trial of greed and corruption on a level that noone really ever knew about before. Any football enthusiast should read this book along with any person with children who plan on competing in high school sports. Please give this book a chance you won't regret it, I didn't. It's worth more than the money you pay for it.

Summary: Lessons of the Game
Review: This is a definite must for student athletes as well as parents of student athletes. I am a parent and my child will most likely be involved in school athletics as he gets older and this opened my eyes to the troubles that can emerge. His honesty was refreshing and much needed in the world of sports where secrecy and the "curtain of silence" prevail over any truth telling. This book needs to get out to young athletes to show them how much education is needed and not to get caught up in all the hype that coaches, family and friends can feed you about sports. Keep up the good work!
