Rating: Summary: No Doubt of Going Back on the Bestsellers List Review: I've got only 5 words for you...Foley is that damn good.
Rating: Summary: Foley Has Done It Again Review: Wow! My favorite wrestler, Mick Foley, has written another masterpiece. While his first book was totally autobiographical, this book takes you right into the world of Pro Wrestling. Mick gives his opinions on such things as wrestlings role in childhood injuries, censorship and responsible parenting. He gets you right into the locker room. The book is also as funny as heck with the usual Al Snow jokes, and more friendly insults towards fellow wrestlers. The autobiographical intrigue is also there, with Mick actually making you feel like you're a member of his family. Judging by his book, he's the kind of person whos family you wouldn't mind being in. Even if you aren't a wrestling fan, this is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Foley, is that...good! Review: Wow, this guy really surprises me. I would never had thought a wrestler could write so well. Mick's first book, "Have A Nice Day", touched my heart... Now, onto his latest book, "Foley Is Good", Well....truthfully, i have just purchased this book yesterday and have only just finished the "I Quit". chapter. But I can see that the magic is back. I cannot wait to start reading this book some more. And I cannot say how much i would love to see a movie! Mick, you have one guy who would pay to see it right here!!! It would be a fantastic movie. You have all the emotions at play. Well, maybe one day, like a little boy dreaming of gold...not knowing what the future will bring. He will reach destiny once again.
Rating: Summary: foley is good at writing Review: Foley has done it again. The first book was, with out a doubt the best book writen about pro wrestling. Now Foley comes out with his second book and its just as good at the last. Even non wrestling fans should pick up this book. Its every well writen, smart, and witty. Foley has a real talent in writing books and I will look forward to another one.
Rating: Summary: Foley is a Literary Champion Once Again Review: I was 13 when I read "Have a Nice Day," Mick's first autobiographical novel. Even though it had considerable girth pagewise, I found myself returning to read it at every opportunity. This is the same way I felt abvout Foley's latest offering, "Foley is Good." I bought this book at about 4:00 PM on May 8 and finished it around 11:30 PM on May 10. I liked this book even more than Mick's previous effort. His story was much more personal this time around, and you were able to actually sympathize with Mick when he explained his difficult in playing with his children because of his numerous injuries. My favorite part, however, of "Foley is Good," was the epilogue. Mick analyzes the WWF and its content in an eloquently worded attack on the PTC and the company's other detractors. His words in this part of the book are both well-communicated and well-thought out. Foley proves himself to be a sophisticated and educated writer with both this section and the rest of the book. SImply put, if you liked "Have a Nice Day," you will love "Foley is Good."
Rating: Summary: Foley is Great!!! Review: Mick Foley again lets us into his mind and life. It is a well written book with lot's of humor and a truckload of Al Snow jokes.I think that this one man proves disproves the fact that wrestlers are stupid meatheads who pretend to fight, especially with his 50 page well researched chapter about the PTC. Pick up this book, you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: Foley is...good Review: Reading this book almost makes you think that despite his incredible success in pro-wrestling, Mick Foley may have actually missed his true calling in life as a writer. Between Foley's uncanny story telling ability, great (sophmoric) sense of humour and timing, and incredible intellect when it comes to making commentary on some of the pressing and contreversial issues plaguing Sports Entertainment today, Foley is Good is a... good read. Recommended for all, wrestling fans and non fans alike. I literally didn't put it down, and read the whole book in one sitting the day I bought it. Just awesome. Period.
Rating: Summary: Good but Different Review: Ive been an avid wrestling fan for at least 15 years now. Call it an addiction if you will because I have also read almost all the autobiographies out there. By far Foleys first book was the best. In terms of story and more than that, they way Foley communicated with the reader. His second attempt I felt was half an autobiography and half "state of pro wrestling". I found this book extreamly interesting in a different matter than the first book in terms of content. He spends a great portion defending pro wrestling as a whole as well as the mastermind behind it all, Vince McMahon. The bottom line is that for someone who has had their head bashed in one too many times, Mick Foley writes an intellectually stimulating, entertaining, and educational book that touches on alot of issues that are going on in the world. I highly reccommend it
Rating: Summary: A GREAT follow up to "Have a Nice Day" Review: "Have a Nice Day" (Foley's first book) is widely regarded as THE number one book on wrestling ever written. If not the most informative, it was certainly the most entertaining. Thankfully, his sequel, "Foley is Good" is highly entertaining as well. It certainly is an easy read (and by that I mean you get lost in the story quickly!). It picks up where the first book ended...Foley winning the world championship belt. From there on, it mainly chronicles the final few years in his wrestling career as countless matches and injuries are beginning to take there toll. But unlike the first book, "Foley is Good" occasionally deviates from the narrative to discuss and thoroughly analyze many criticisms and accusations that have been unfairly heaped on pro wrestling recently. These side discussions are a fascinating enough read to more than justify the cover price alone, but it is the final 10% of the book that is the real kicker--Foley conducted exhaustive research and study to write what I consider one of the best rebuttals of all time. This section should be required reading for anyone who has ever believed that pro wrestling is a top negative influence in society. Not only does this essay dispel many of the media's "untruths" in regards to wrestling, it shockingly unearths the underhanded and outright malicious tactics used by the news media and the PTC (Parents Television Council). The aggresiveness used by these groups to further their own agenda makes anything on WWF TV look quite tame. The stories Foley shares are hilarious and often quite touching, and his style of writing is a breath of fresh air. Foley writes as if he were sitting in the chair across from you, talking out loud and not as though he were sitting alone trying to convert his thoughts to paper...anyway, I'm rambling here so let me just wrap this up and say that if your a fan of Foleys, or wrestling in general, or if you just wanted to read an essay that blasts the PTC out of the water, then you definetly need to get this book. I did and I wasn't dissapointed
Rating: Summary: Foley Really is Good! Review: A great follow-up to the first book! More from behind the scenes in the WWF and in Foley's life, all captured with his great sense of humor. A fun read.
