Rating: Summary: Lot's of info about some great players. Review: I walked into the bookstore one day and saw a book with Peyton Manning on the cover and decided to read it. I thought most of it would be about Peyton, since he is in the spotlight right now, but I was pleasantly surprised to get a lot of information about Archie also. I am younger myself so I was too young to follow football a lot when Archie was in his prime, but I found his stories very interesting. When I told my wife how Archie's father had died she asked me why I would want to read something that depressing. After finishing the book I made a point of telling her that Archie obviously did not like what happened, but that he turned it into a positive. From reading this book I turned into a fan of Archie Manning. I was already a fan of Peyton Manning when I picked up this book and now I am a bigger fan. It is nice to have an athlete in our day that respects others. He looks up to the great quarterbacks before him and really admires his dad. It was nice to read a clean autobiography, in which Peyton most embarrassing admission was the mooning incident. The one drawback to the book that I saw was that there was not enough information on the other boys. I understand that most people will read the book because of Peyton and Archie, but it would have been nice to know a little more about the others.

Rating: Summary: Aaron Lemay's review Review: Archie and Peyton Manning were the best father-son quarterbacks out there. As a kid Archie wasn't sure what he was going to do with his life. He was just an average kid who loved sports. As a kid Peyton dreamed of being like his father Archie. He continued the family name by breaking more records and leading just as good of a career as Archie. Archie went to Mississippi college but wasn't sure what sport he wanted to play. He ended up playing football and was very good at it. After college football, Archie was drafted onto the Saints. Archie broke the record for highest paid rookie. When Archie was drafted onto the Saints they were on a bad loosing streak and Archie joining the team didn't change that. For the first time Archie was getting booed. Archie was a very good player but one person doesn't make a team. Eventually Archie's career took off and he became famous. As a teenager Peyton knew he was going to play football, he just didn't know what college he was going to go to. Peyton was already somewhat famous, being Archie's, son so he had a ton of choices for which college he wanted to go to. Surprisingly, he chose to go to a college other than Mississippi. This was very surprising to his father because Peyton wanted to be just like Archie but chose not to go to the same college. Once he was in the NFL he was, like his father, the highest paid rookie ever. Peyton was drafted onto the Colts and they weren't doing so well when he was drafted. Peyton's rookie year was 3-13, but he broke several team and league records. Peyton's career had skyrocketed just like his father Archie's. Overall, this was a great book. It tells a lot about Archie and Peyton's careers. I think it was really cool how the book described their feelings and their lives. The book tells a lot of details about their careers and what they were thinking before games or major decisions. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes football and would enjoy reading about it.
Rating: Summary: One word ... "CLASS" Review: Being from New Orleans, I was eager to read this book. I am a fan of the Mannings and am glad they put some thoughts in writing. That being said, it has been a very, very easy read. It is almost a conversational book, but I am not sure that I have gained a great depth of information regarding the NFL, college sports or the Manning family. I agree with most of Archie's opinions, especially not forcing ultra-organized sports onto children. Very good for a pro star to be quoted as saying such things. Overall, a conversational and light book about a very nice family in my favorite town...New Orleans.

Rating: Summary: One word ... "CLASS" Review: Having known this family for many years, it's good to see their words in a book. They exemplify what's right in athletics and in life. Great lessons on raising children, keeping it all in perspective and staying on an even keel ... in good times and bad. Buy it, read it, recommend it to a friend.
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: I bought this book with skepticism but overall I liked it. I thought it was pretty truthful to the Manning legacy. The SEC's most famous bloodline's story is here. I recommend it as I do "A Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football" which also showcases the Mannings.

Rating: Summary: A terrific inside look at the world of football Review: I grew up watching Archie Manning play for Ole Miss and now cheer for his son, Peyton, with the Colts. Although I knew a lot of Archie's story, this book gives a detailed insider's look at the world of football at all levels and all the changes that have occurred over the past 30 years. It is also a heart-warming story about the Manning family and how they've dealt with everything from Archie's frustrated days playing with the Saints, raising a family in New Orleans (not the easiest place to raise kids!), Peyton's college recruiting process and dealing with Cooper's (their oldest son) life-threatening illness. I always knew that Archie was a humble competitor -- I saw that when he played at Ole Miss -- and it's obviously influenced the way he and his wife raised their sons. In a world where so many kids disrespect authority and eschew hard work, it's refreshing to learn about the Manning kids in another light. And I loved learning all about the behind-the-scenes gyrations of pro football and the college recruiting process. A fantastic book by two fabulous athletes who also happen to be men of integrity and honor.
