Rating: Summary: A must read for any Nascar Fan Review: Hi, I am a new fan of NASCAR. My dad has always been a fan esp of Dale Earndhardt. I came across this book and decided to order it. I have read the whole book in over a week; which is fast for me. I have greatly enjoyed this book. Not only do you get to know Dale jr. a little better you get to see the world of racing through his eyes. I have learned about the sport from this book. If you are looking for a bio on Dale Jr this is not the book for you. If you are looking for what life was like with Dale Sr. this is not the book. You will get a breif background on his life and yes he talks about his dad alot in the book, but it's mostly for the boss - driver aspect. weather or not you are a fan of Jr or not this is a great book for any race fan. It gives you the fly on the wall look at the ups and downs of a Wiston Cup season.
Rating: Summary: Driver #8 Review: This book was well worth the cost. I couldn't put it down. Driver #8 gives such insight into Nsacar that it made me love the sport, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., even more. This book took me through the full range of emotions, from laughter to tears.
Rating: Summary: I could not put it down! Review: Junior creates a very interesting portrait of what it is like to be the most hyped rookie on the Nascar circuit ever. His tales of all the different people that were looking for a piece of him are as interesting as the descriptions of the races. i can only hope that this is not the last book that Dale Jr decides to write in his hopefully long Nascar career.
Rating: Summary: Fast Paced Fun! Review: I am a huge Jr. fan and am always looking to learn as much as I can about him. This book was awesome. I couldn't put it down. I'm even reading it again to make sure I didn't miss anything the first time.
Rating: Summary: awesome book!! Review: when i first got into nascar i was not a jr. fan at all. like a lot, i assummed that because of who his daddy was--everything was handed to him. one of my friends is a dale fan only because of his looks but for the fun of it i thought i would give the book a try. i couldn't put it down. the book explained so much about his weekends at the track that i didn't know. it gave me a completely different perspective of how to look at him now. i've learned that he had to learn the business and was not handed everything he has so easily as i had assumed. i thought it was great and i can't wait to read it again!!
Rating: Summary: 8 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER Review: While I must admit that Jr. isn't my favorite driver on the Nascar circuit (but he's my 2'nd choice!), I am continually impressed with his relaxed attitude as well as the way he handles himself on and off the track. The man likes to party and race, and it is evident to me even more so than before after reading this book. There is much told about his rookie season as we the reader are led through the triumphs and tragedy that made that year one to remember forever. Readers will enjoy the small glimpses into his personal life (done in good taste, never too revealing), as well as the trackside stories that are "Classic Jr." From the opening chapter at Daytona, all the way to the NAPA 400 in Atlanta, Georgia, you won't be able to put this book down. You're in for quite a ride... Hang on tight!!
Rating: Summary: Ride Along With Junior Review: If you want to know the down-to-earth driver of the #8 car, this is the book. He expresses his concerns, his fears, and helps the reader understand what pressures that a young driver goes through (especially with the popular last name of Earnhardt). If you want to understand what it's like in NASCAR, ride along with Junior and understand it from his stand point.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK............. Review: I couldn't put it down.... Dale Jr takes you on an emotional rollercoaster of his rookie year. You share in his triumphs and disappointments. It allows #8 and NASCAR fans in general a glimpse into his life while he is trying to find and prove his place in NASCAR. No doubt his humor and mischievous ways will entertain you. You experience the struggles that the #8 team overcomes and the respect that have for one another. You come away feeling that yes he is Dale Earnhardt Jr, #8, but he is also a son, brother, uncle and friend(also a big flirt..LOL) He loves his job and respects the sport... You won't regret buying this book......
Rating: Summary: A Look at a Young NASCAR Driver Through his Eyes Review: I was excited to read this book...it is written as if Dale Jr. was talking right to you. It is plain written and does not "juice up" anything to make the story line more exciting. The book goes through his rookie season of 2000, race by race. He speaks about race car set up, run in's with fans, the media, actions taken on the track during a race, and what is was like to race with his father. The book also gives a small glimpse into his personal life as far as an overview of his years growing up and the things that he encountered. I was so hoping for more intimate details of romance in his life...or things about women that he has dated. He mentions this particular subject with regards to the "Bud" girls and a few others but that is it. He is truly a party type guy and speaks often in the book about being drunk/hung over and "hanging out with friends." He does not give specific details about partying or going out though. If you are a race fan then this book will be enjoyable. I found myself skipping some of the minute by minute race recap though. So I was jumping around through the book...which you can easily do...especially if you remember the 2000 season. And that is exactly what the book is about (no mention of his father's death in retrospect or anything like that). There is an epilouge included at the end of the book that reflects on his father's death and the Pepsi 400 in 2001. Junior talks about that special victory and what it meant to him. I feel like I know this driver better. He is a typical 26 year old man that is good at driving stock cars and has been thrust into the limelight because of a very famous father. He likes to drink beer, play video games and hang out with friends. And that is as deep as it gets (or at least as deep as this book gets). I am a NASCAR fan but also an avid book reader...I gave this book 3 stars because there are better biographies/autobiographies than this. If I was rating this in regards to NASCAR books only, I would give it a 5.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK!!!!!! Review: I received my book and immediately started reading it. Little E takes you on a journey of his rookie year his trials and triumphs. You find yourself exploring a variety of emotions. So, if you happen to be a fan of #8 or just a NASCAR fan buy this book it's full of heart and humor.Be prepared you can't put it down........
