Rating: Summary: Excellent, Truly Great Review: I've read a lot of horse books and this by far is one of the greatest.I have horse of my own and have found that a lot of the tips that Monty talks about really work. The "Join-Up" concept is great and I have to say makes for much happier and heathier horses. Monty, GREAT WORK!
Rating: Summary: A Dale Carniege course for dealing with horses! Review: My dad was born in 1899 and he often spoke of treating horses and children also with horse sense. He would have loved seeing this book with so much "horse sense." Too bad we don't use more of these gentle techniques, teaming up, etc. with our own children. Some kids are pretty wild too. I recommend reading this and seeing how we can apply some of the techniques to people. How to win friends and influence horses and children!
Rating: Summary: A book full of great lessons. Review: The man who listens to horses is a definite page turner. This autobiography on Monty Roberts is as thrilling as a fiction book. He has had one of the most interresting and admireable lifes of anyone I have ever heard of. With all of Montys success's one could live at least five rewarding lifes. Though he has had his hardships, Monty turned them around as life lessons. Not letting anything stand in his way, Monty clearly is a success story. After finishing this book, I now have a new person to look up to in life. I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for inspiration.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book that every horse lover should read!!! Review: I have read many great books on horses and have never read on quite as good as this. Monty Robers is an extreamly amazing man with a true gift for communicating with horses. Even though there has been some contrivercy over whether or not this story is really true, I believe that no one could make this up. It would be too hard to make up such an amazing tale with such discription. The amazing training tips at the end of the book have really worked on the schooling horses that I tried them on. It seams even greater in real life then written down on paper. But even in the book it was simiply amazing. If I was him I would have given up after all the comments on how his ideas could never posibly work, but luckily I wasn't him because he didn't. Which makes him even more of an amazing man. I recommend this book to everyone whether you love horses or you despize them. It is true an amazing book and it will change your life, as it did mine. If you really want to read a good book, please, do yourself a favor and read this one!
Rating: Summary: A must read for all horse lovers!!! Review: This book is great! Will touch your heart in a profound way. I can't believe how detailed this book is. There's no way someone could make this up!!
Rating: Summary: False. Review: See February 1999 Issue of Horse and Rider. Apparently a lot of untruth in this book.
Rating: Summary: A great man making an amazing difference in horse training! Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read! It's informational and has wonderful training tips that I have found to truly work with my own horses. I have used his "Join-Up" concept on each of the 6 horses that I have, and every one responded the same way. It was amazing to see exactly what he described in the book really happen in real life. I was very excited to see the horses' willing reactions to my requests. I reccommend that anyone, (even non-horse people), should read this book. Monty Roberts is an outstanding man making a big change in the way our animals learn. I am his # 1 fan and supporter!!
Rating: Summary: It was a touching book; the author was a genious Review: IT was an amazing story about the hardships of life on a farm and a brilliant man who found a better way to train horses.
Rating: Summary: An interesting book on an interesting man Review: I thought the "Horse Whisperer" was nothing more than a creation of an authors imagination, but no author could have created Monty Roberts and his story. From his struggles with his father and skeptics who doubted his methods to his triumphs in England and Ireland, Monty Robetrs is an example of the power of sticking to ones' convictions and believintg in ones ideas(It helps when those ideas are based on observation!)
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I really liked this book, because it's not like many other books about horses. An interesting man, with an interesting story. I almost liked it as much as Nicholas Evans' Horse Whisperer!
