Summary: A 6-Star book! It teaches multiple life lessons
Review: I read this book because of an interest in horses and expected to be awestruck with Mr. Roberts' methods and results - and I was. What I didn't expect was the story of a boy who was abused and turned that experience around to become an extraordinarily wise and compassionate man. You will come away from this book with an entirely new perspective on communication with animals and with people. This is the best book I have read in years.

Summary: VERY GOOD!
Review: I never had much interest in this book, until I saw the book in a classroom and decided to start reading it. Once I started, I hated to put it down!! I have read some of the reviews, some people like it, some people hate it. I really believe his methods produce amazing results. I would recomend this book to everyone.

Summary: Monty Roberts-the Real Horse Whisperer
Review: I saw Monty on local public television, here in the Tampa bayarea a couple of years ago. A year later, Monty did another telethonfor our local public television station, and his first book-now in paperback, was becoming available in the local mass market book stores. I couldn't get my hands on it fast enough. The book is well crafted. It is divided into several chapters, with titles that tell you at what point in the story you are at in Montys life. It will enable you to schedule time to read the book in brief sessions, if you choose. The book not only covers the Horse whisperer Monty, but the other things monty has done in his life that are not as well known. But they all go together to make up the puzzle that is Monty Roberts. I would like to say emphatically that the real horse whisperer has no correlation to the movie by the same name. Monty Roberts has only been married once, is married to the same woman, and is a foster dad to several children as well. This book would appeal to several kinds of people. If your interest is in horses, monty's life will tell you how to be successful with horses. If you want to learn how to be successful at something you love, read montys book, and it will outline the basics of that too. Montys book will also show you that if you have a bonafide talent, with a lot of hard work, you will probably succeed, with the predictable users, injustises, and setbacks. If you would like to find out what it would be like to "live the life you've always wanted, " montys book will show you the glorious side, the hard work side, the sacrifices side, and the what will my real pay check be, side. I haven't read a biography/expose book in several years that I have enjoyed as much as montys. And if you haven't seen the story of his life, get the video(s). I've struggled with my feelings about older people, and becoming an older american. . Montys book-and the corresponding video which I purchased just before I got the book, showed me that you're only as old as you want to be. But you have to pay the price to live that life, and find out early in life how to go about it. The reader will find out what it's like, how it feels-to finally "make it". It will also show you that very often, you have to, "do it afraid." The hardcover version would better suit some readers, as there are several phtos in the middle of the book. They are reproduced on the smaller pages, in the paper back version. I couldn't put the book down, I had to read it every night for almost a week until I read it all the way through. P.S. If you think I'm a monty fan, you're absolutely right! I hope to get a signed copy of the hardcover version of the book eventually.

Summary: An Aboslutely Mesmerizing Book
Review: I generally find non-fiction to be uterally boring. Not in this case! I literally couldn't put the book down. I'm from Nevada and have seen the mustangs running wild and had neighbors who owned a BLM mustang mare. Without a doubt this book is tremendous. Learning about how to speak to horses in their language teaches us so much about ourselves. This book is a must for anyone wanting to train their animals in a kinder and gentler fashion or for anyone who just wants to be spellbound by a fantastic true-life story. I only wish I had known what Flag Is Up Farms was when I was in SLO, CA. I would have so enjoyed visiting.

Summary: Awesome book!
Review: I loved this book! He explains all his methods and talks about his life so wonderfully that I couldn't put it down. To those critics, Monty is not running a money-making ploy. He wrote an autobiography explaining himself and his methods (it was not a book about training your horse, it was an autobiography). It was an excellent book and Monty Roberts is an excellent horseman. 5 stars!!!!!

Summary: Glimpsing a Life Spent with Horses
Review: This book delivered everything I had hoped for when I bought it: entertainment and a compelling story, but, most importantly, insight on the way horses work. Monty Roberts is no F. Scott Fitzgerald, but his writing is clear and easy to read, and his story is moving. After telling his life story and describing the relationships between the events in his life and his methods of working with horses, Monty goes on to describe step-by-step the process of "join-up" which has made him so successful. I recommend this book for any person attracted by a good story with lessons to teach, but especially for a horseperson interested in cultivating more understanding relationships with horses.

Summary: This book is the best book I ever read!
Review: I noticed that most of you people who wrote the other book reviews trashed the book or the writer! I mean you totally missed the whole point of the book. We don't even know the writer, but you can read about him from the book. You can actually read between the lines. I think Monty Roberts is a very dedicated horseman who wants to make the world better for horse. I admire his love and understanding of horses. He has discovered a way to communicate with them, to really get to know them. Nobody actually tried that before. They abused horses. Monty Roberts did too, but he learnt from it. I know he did write about his family but those events were important to do with his life around horses and his communication methods. And it makes the book more real and interesting like it really happened. The whole point of the book was about HORSES. He wanted us to make life better for them and he shared his knowledge that he gained with us. He stepped upon the language'Equus' when he went to study mustangs in the wild when he was 14. This book is all about horses and combined with his narration of his life gives it a wonderful quality above other books. Monty Roberts also trained Shy Boy. He wrote a book about it. He's real and the story's real. The horses are living, breathing creatures and the words like them come to life under Monty Roberts. He wants to give them a better quality of life.

Summary: People that berate these methods are stupid...
Review: I've never seen monty roberts in person, never watched another person try his methods, nor do I have anything to say about the people who don't like his methods, but take it from someone who trains, it works. I'ver been using this method of training for 2 years now, and let me tell you, it's a godsend. My horses trust me, are more responsive, handle new situations easily, and work well with all people, not just their trainer. If you have a problem with his methods, you're doing somthing wrong. I've trained over 40 horses in this manor and never have I once had a problem. Maybe the book in itself is a lie, who knows, I personally don't care. If someone is so obsessed with wether it's true or not, you need to get a life. If you get anything out of reading it, it should be that gentlness and trust are what make an equine relationship. As for buying it, rent a copy and save yourself some money.

Summary: Time Will Tell
Review: Monty Robert's book expresses his discoveries of communication in the world of certain animals. This book should survive current criticism. I pray that time will tell the value of this book; to man, and horse.
