Summary: I smell what the Rock is cookin'
Review: After reading this book, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, the Rock is the GR8T One,he is PEOPLE'S CHAMP,That he is the BEST darn rassler walkin' GOD's green earth. My favorite part of the book was the part about traveling around the old territories with his father, Rocky Johnson.I could relate to this because I used to travel the Memphis territory following my favorite rasslers (Jerry Lawler, Handsome Jimmy Valiant,Ricky Morton, Bill "Superstar" Dundee) to all of the shows. I am also the proud owner of a autographed picture of Rocky Johnson from this golden age of rasslin'. So if you want to enjoy a good reading experience,Know Your Role, buy the book, and shut your mouth!

Summary: Ripoff!
Review: Oh, I think this book is great because you know it has never been done before and I am sure The Rock didn't steal this idea from anyone. I'm also sure that it's just a coincidence that this book is published right after Mankinds. And I'm sure all you Rock fans are saying, "But he has good catch-phrases". Well Mankind is the Hardcore icon, a great author and a great wrestler who can make himself look good as well as others while The Rock just talks in 3rd person.

Summary: The Rock Didn't Say...
Review: Unfortunately, the biggest problem with this book is that for some reason, the ghostwriter of this book decided to write this as The Rock, with his referring to himself in the third person. It makes the book incredibly difficult to read, and quite annoying, especially when it switches from third to first person references.

The history portion of the book is great, with talk about what it was like growing up with Rocky Johnson and Peter Maivia as father and grandfather and having to defend pro wrestling growing up.

Unfortunately, this book suffers from over-editing and political correctness, where he is very pro-WWF in every situation, which makes this book seem very contrived, with the WWF hype machine and PR machine guiding his opinions, and making it appear as if The Rock has no opinions of his own.

Get it for historical purposes, but for entertainment, stick to Foley.

Review: I read The Rock's book because I thought that he was the coolest wrestler ever, this side of Ric flair. I always knew he would be a superstar in the business and he was too much of a pretty boy to not do movies. In fact, there are two people on this planet whom I would want to be if I could not be me - Derek Jeter and The Rock.

The guy puts tons and tons of energy into his matches, he sells every shot and he was always darn funny. Good actor in the ring too, average on film. Maybe a little less than average...like this book.

sure, it does what it is supposed to do. it fills us in on who the Rock is, who he was and why he wanted to be these people. Like most other wrestling books, it reads like a textbook, telling us the facts and figures and moving on. It's never really enjoyable because the writing isn't great. It's just nice to read the beginnings of your favorite vices. Guys who are doing what I wanted to do as a kid: wrestle.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not bad
Review: This book was fairly good at telling the Rock's life story, but it went downhill fast when he put on the Rock character and talks in third person as always. Probably one of the worst books the WWF/WWE has put out from one of their wrestlers.
