Rating: Summary: the rock says Review: excellent account of the rock's personal and professional experiences. a must for "ROCK" fans
Rating: Summary: The Rock's book is solid Review: After reading Mick Foley's excellent "Have a Nice Day," I didn't expect much from The Rock's bio because I thought it would be a rush job. Not so. "The Rock Says" is a solid, thoughtful read that encompasses a love story (Rock and wife Dany), his tough days in Canada trying to make a football career, the prejudice his future wife's parents felt towards him, and his appreciation of the wrestling stars who helped him during his meteoric rise. Although written with a co-author, the book exudes the spirituality, competitive athleticism and great humor of The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson.) His descriptions of the long, lonely nights on the road, the needed isolation from fans who intrude on his private life, and the unfailing devotion of his wife and parents are really inspiring. There are a number of chapters in which The Rock assumes his in-ring personna and they're just as funny and entertaining as he is on WWF. Women will love the story about how he backed out of a threesome (Dwayne and two women) in college the night he met the woman who would become his wife. Men will enjoy his detailed descriptions of matches as well as his candid handling of his father's battle with alcoholism. This book is a must for any fan of professional wrestling, packed with photos and overflowing with an insider's view of the sport.
Rating: Summary: Rock vs Sock Review: After reading "Have a Nice Day", this book was a serious disappointment. I'm fairly new to the squared circle, so I didn't know just how few years the Rock has been in the business. The interesting stories and anecdotes that kept me going in Mick's book just weren't there. He hasn't yet had the time to acquire any yet. "The Rock Says" just wasn't all that interesting. Much like the character. Mankind's book will have an honored place on my bookshelf, "The Rock Says" will be going to the used book store.
Rating: Summary: It doesn't matter what my title says! Review: This truly a fasicnating book unlike other books this takes you to a whole other level without all of the hoopla one makes just to get a rave review.
Rating: Summary: This book is great! Review: I just finished this book 3 weeks after reading Mick Foley's book & I must say it was quite enjoyable. I would have liked to have heard more behind the scenes stories. The only thing I didn't care for was that 70% of the book were Dwayne Johnson's words & 30% the Rock's. I get enough on the Rock on RAW is War...I want more Dwayne. All in all a great book, though.
Rating: Summary: The Rock says.....buy this book Review: This is a book that all wrestling fans need to own. By reading this book I found out some very interesting things about the Rock. I'd like to tell you more about this book but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasen't read it. So if you don't have a copy of this book go pick it up at any book store because it's a great book IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN'!
Rating: Summary: What a great book! Review: I hardly ever have time to read anymore, but I bought this book for my husbands birthday and I started reading the first couple of pages and couldn't put it down! It is such a great book. I like the history of how The Rock came to be and the telling of who he is out of the ring. I loved it and I am sure my husband will too (when he finally gets to read it!)
Rating: Summary: The People's Book Review: I was very exited when I got this book and I began reading it right away. It is a very good book and I would recommend it to all wrestling and non-wrestling fans to read it. The only reason I did not give it a perfect score was because he does sometimes go into thind-person instead of just writting as himself and I would have wanted to know what he, Dwayne Johnson, was thinking, but the rest of the book makes this forgivable. If you smell what i'm cooking. ôo
Rating: Summary: GREAT ONE ! Review: We live close to Freedom School and have heard lots of stories about Dwayne . I bought book for myself and loved the book , if you like wrestling you should love this book . It was nice to read about his personal stories of his life that wrestling is entertainment and is also a job and how he worked so hard to basically almost overnight become the one of the most popular wrestlers of all time . I think he does a great job selling "sports entertainment" and people who take wrestling to serious should really take a look at what there "cookin" instead of taking everything they see on WWF TV so serious . Its Sports Entertainment and Rock does a great job entertaining. I would also like to say nice chapter on Owen Hart and nice to know wife Dany had been so supportive .I bought 2 Mankind books from Amazon and they were great reading.SEE YOU JAN 24 , 2000 at RAW IS WAR Patrick - Denise <---- Husband
Rating: Summary: If you smell what the Rock is writing and cooking! Review: The Rock says book is the best autobiography I have ever read. It talks about his childhood, adulthood, his experiences with wrestling and his family. He kept it real to the bone from wrestling, his relationships with women and his relationship with his family. His book reminds me of myself when I was young. It make me realize that the Rock's book had lots of similarities as in my life. I can relate to the Rock's book. Keep doing your thing Rock. You are the man. If all your wannabes shut your mouth for a second, everybody is cheering the Rock's name! Rocky, Rocky, Rocky!
