Review: I am not a student of Capoeria and knew very little about the style prior to buying this book. This book was informative and composed very well illustrating both the Anglo, and Regional styles of Capoeria. I suggest this book for Capoeria students and curious martial artists alike.

Summary: The Best Hands On Capoeira Primer
Review: I read this book after studying Capoeira for four years. I would recommend it to anyone considering studying this beautiful and dangerous art and also to those of us with experience. (Great source of new moves for roda)Classes here in Miami are in Portuguese so this book filled in the holes that my sometimes limited language ability could not. Nestor also avoided alot of the political hot buttons on which style is best that other capoeira books exploited. Please remember: this book is not a sufficient replacement for studying with a mestre or a contra-mestre. Learning to play the instruments, singing the chants, and the ritual of batizado (baptism) cannot be experienced from a book-they must be lived.

Review: I recieved this book as a birthday present. This book is an overall instructional guide to capoeira. It is very thorough in the philosophy of capoeira and even teaches some of the basic moves. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest with capoeira- just don't think you can learn capoeira with just one book.

Review: I was a wrestler looking for a martial art that could aid me in getting the power I needed. A friend of mine, who was a green belt in Karate, suggested Capoiera based on a short article he read on Capoiera rodas. My growing fascination with Capoiera brought me to purchase Nestor's book. I was completely taken back. This book offers a history on Capoiera, background on the music, and a set of simple diagrams to guide beginners through the basic Capoiera moves. A must have book for anyone interested in Capoiera. The translation is flawless. Buy this book! You won't regret it!

Has almost all the basic capoeira moves imaginable, I was totally hooked after the first day, even if you arent looking to learn capoeira this is a great history book. The Little Book of Capoeira gives enough information regarding this sport's past without boring the reader into setting the book in the back of their closet.I reccomend this handbook for anyone interested in this unique sport as a primer. The knowledge delivered here allows the reader to have a solid base if the goal is to continue studying capoeira with a mestre or, leaves him or her with enough to enjoy knowing the basics of the sport.
