Rating: Summary: Good Story... Okay book. Review: Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within is a book based on the movie. While the book carries the storyline of the movie fairly well the writing is not as good as a full novel. The storyline is that earth was hit by a meteorite that carried the spirits of aliens to earth. On earth the aliens steal the spirits of the humans that they catch. As a result the human population is decimated. Aki is a scientist that is trying to find eight spirits that can create a wave that can force back the invaders. She is also infected by the alien threat which makes her task much more difficult. The movie looks awsome and the book give the storyline okay but this is not the greatest movie novelization that Ihave read but it is not horrible. If you want to find out what happens in the movie I would recommend reading it but if not see the movie when it comes out.
Rating: Summary: Boo Sqauresoft! Review: I am a big fan of the FF video games, but let me say, this is just the biggest piece of ... I've ever seen! Take my word on it. (I can't give away the plot but let's just say it's just a fancy Budhist...film!) No wonder it was #9 the first week it opened. The only reason to go see this movie would be to see the computer graphics, but even those were extremely thin at points. In short, don't read this book, don't see the film-they're both garbage. A true disgrace to the Final Fantasy universe.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie - Good Book Review: I don't know why do you people don't like the movie and the book? After all isn't it another one of Square's great Final Fantasies?Personaly I think that the movie was GREAT for many reasons. First of all it had great 3D animation which was the most life-like I've seen so far.Second I liked the main plot a lot ,yes it was not very complicated but it still was very good.About the ending : what I understood of it is that no matter how bad things look there is always hope and life will always flurish. At least that's what I understood of it but even if you don't understand it that still is no reason for you not to like the movie. That is what I and a lot of my friends think.Bye for now.
Rating: Summary: Japanese Animation Review: I loved the book the only reason it got 4 stars is the one thing I can't stand about the Japanese Animations. I may spoil it for some who don't understand this... Typical Japanese Animations I've seen all have 2 people in love, in the end one of them dies. Maybe i'm a hopeless romance, but just once i would like the man and woman in love both to live! And for this reason alone i avoid Japanese Animation. Someone should take notice shake it up a little and have a happy ending with both characters alive! In a japanese animantion!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing. Period. Review: I must say, I was thoughroly disappointed by this book. As a writer myself, after I saw the movie, despite the book beign accurate, it was dull and badly written, trying to give the characters "other names(Example: Aki=young scientist, young woman) and the emotions were not played out in the book as they were in the movie. Such a...well, crappy book, is a horrible disappointment to a movie like Final Fantasy, which i enjoyed immensely. I suggest finding ANY other Final Fantasy book beside this one...it's just plain bad, and a complete waste of money. And, on that note, the book skips two very important factors to the life force of this plot: the kissing scene and the ending was not thoroughly accurate. See the movie and/or get another book.
Rating: Summary: A Final Fantasy FREAK that didn't like this movie at all! Review: I'm a HUGE and I mean HUGE Fan of the Final Fantasy Series! As much as I looked forward to this movie, I could almost say I hated it. I wish Square gave it a good story. The movie had no originality and was plain and long........It didn't have the feeling that all the other Final Fantasy games had............
Rating: Summary: Too plain Review: I've only read a fandful of film novilizations, but I the ones I've read has had some extra features; interviews with the director, producer ecct., a forword, screenshots from the film, thingsx like that. But this one has NO extra features. No forword, screenshots, interviews, this book goes in the order of three cover-pages, the story, and a paragraph about the author. They don't even expand the plot one iota. The writing it'self also leaves a little to be desired. This guy must have flunked 6th grade english. Repetitive use of the word "said", lacking, poorly written metephors and similies, and diaglouge and location explainations that don't coinside with the film give this book a lot to be desired. I only gave it four stars because I liked the film so much. Rabid fans of the movie/games will enjoy this book. Everone else will look for something better, FAST.
Rating: Summary: Open your mind! Review: The story presents a *fantasy* with a theme that may be unfamiliar to most people. The film shows a near-realistic looking world populated by near-realistic looking characters in fantastic situations. Why do the negative reviewers insist on being spoon-fed? Use your imagination--remember how? The story gives you all the threads to put together the theme, which is about the elements and the cycle of life. The ending points to the renewal of life (hint: Aki & Gray did more than just kiss) and hope on a devastated Earth, a new beginning with an open-ended future. Too many critics want a nice, neat package where the guy gets the girl and everyone lives happily ever after. Sorry to break the news, but real life can be messy.
Rating: Summary: FF fans, avoid this book at all costs! Review: Well, I am FF fan since FF7 and I played almost all FF games...I waited for this movie thinking it will be really good thing in style of FF....NOTHING LIKE THIS.......at movies' end almost EVERYONE ON PLANET dies....except Aki (main character) and old Dr. Cid....and it has no this "magic" sence like in the games....I don't think book is much better than movie...
Rating: Summary: Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within Review: While some people say that the movie is nothing like the book, that could not be more the opposite for FF. This book and the movie follow the exact same words said, and everything. Of course, that also means that the ending of the book made no more sense than the ending of the movie did. All in all, the book showed us the movie perfectly, but it did it too well: it gave us the same ending as the movie, with no explanation of what really happened.
