Summary: Action adventure thats not for the weak of heart!
Review: Hang on to your seats for a tale unlike any Tarzan or Doc Savage story you've ever read. And SAVAGE is the word for Farmer's very controversial take on two beloved pulp fiction heroes. Theres plenty of action and spectacle familiar to adventure fans, but Farmer gives it all a gut-wrenching edge by pulling out all the stops on violent emotions and very explicit sex. All of this is wrapped together with an intricate storyline that'll keep you turning the pages. Stay away if you can't stand to see your favorite heroes portrayed with a style that will hit you like a hot poker in the eye. Otherwise, it's a great adventure taken to a level very few authors dare to try for. Try it if you dare

Summary: Rare and rewarding, You can look far and not find its like.
Review: I have seldom found better imaginative prose than Farmer displays. The story is riveting in its primal intensity. Mr. Farmer has taken two of pulp fiction's greatest heros and given them new life. He has done so in a way that their creators would have been shocked to see. If you have read the adventures of Tarzan or Doc Savage, you must read this book

Summary: Rated M for Mature
Review: On the cover of my copy of A Feast Unknown it has a blurb about how shocking this was when it was first published in 1969. But really how shocking could it be ? Well, A Feast Unkown is so over the top in terms of sex and violence that it is almost comical. The story revolves around to heroes, the Lord of the Jungle (patterned after Tarzan) and the Man of Bronze (patterned after I'm not sure who). They both work for the Council of Nine, which govern and influence all human affairs, and supply the heroes with the elixir for virtual immortality. The two heroes have become mortal enemies as they duel to the death to take a vacancy in the Nine.
As noted the book is full of violent sex and sexualized violence. It is not for anyone easily offended by explicit sex and graphic violence. In fact I'm sure the sole motivation behind this book was to see how many people Farmer could outrage. The sex and violence is so extreme that it becomes comical. And really beyond the efforts to offend there's not much here. Like a lot of sci-fi and fantasy novels from the late sixties - it is incredibly dated.
