Rating: Summary: Great and available for free online from author/publisher! Review: An excellent adventure and the character development and time travel are handled very well. I finished it in one sitting..it is that gripping! My only complaint is that that the promised sequel has never appeared. I don't hold this against the author though. It would be hard to condemn anyone capable of such a superb book. I only wish I could read the rest of this! Even if the story is never finished, I am still glad to have read it. I have hopes of someday seeing the rest of it...please don't let us down Linda! This book is available for free download (with many other great books) at BAEN's free online library in a variety of ebook formats at http://www.baen.com/library/ but there is no sequel I have been able to find anywhere yet.
Rating: Summary: Best Half Book on Time Travel I Have Read! Review: Far Edge of Darkness is the best half book of science fiction I've ever read! The premise is absorbing, the characters have depth and emotion, and the story-telling and dialog are excellent. Unfortunately, the book ends before the story is finished! Other reviewers note a sequel is coming, but I think it fair for the publisher to note "Part One" when only publishing half a story. Hence three stars out of five, for half an excellent book!
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: For those of us who are waiting for a sequel their is hope, Linda has been ill, and has spent the last two years fulfilling existing contracts. She will be writing the sequel soon. So don't give up.......Giovanni
Rating: Summary: excellent, exciting, sad, and full of thrills Review: Great story - I however hated reading a book without an ending. I purchased a Sci-fi book by William Tedford (Time Quest) years ago. I tried for years to find the sequels. I failed! I don't plan to purchase any other stories by this author for fear she's just teasing us ("faithful sci-fi readers") and raking in money while dangling us from a string. Reading is one of my true loves. I'd like to read the sequel before I someday cross the street and get hit by a truck! --H.E.Wilson IV
Rating: Summary: Left us hanging Review: I bought this when it first came out and loved it. I've always been fascinated by time travel stories. I anxiously awaited the two books that were to complete this 'trilogy' but they never materialized. Will we ever see them? I hope so, if they're as good as the first one was.
Rating: Summary: Excellent strong female lead character -- rare in SF. Review: I had never read a book by Ms. Evans before, and I must say I am sorry I hadn't earlier. I was given the book as a gift, and when I began reading it, I wasn't overly impressed -- expecting it to be some other sloppily put together story on one of the author's favorite subjects and throwing in some time travel to spice it up. Then the story began developing, the main conflict began to take shape, and I found myself really pulled in. Excellent work on details regarding the time period. Sibyl is a very strong character that you can't help but feel bad for, and cheer for when she puts up her dukes. I, like others, was also getting discouraged as I saw the number of pages dwindling while the story continued on at full pace. I've been checking every week to see if Unholy Trinity has been published yet. Hope it's soon!
Rating: Summary: sequel Review: I tracked down the website and ..... the sequel to this book, "Unholy trinty" is still in "outlining stages" as of november.
Rating: Summary: Compelling but Unfinished Review: The book was utterly fascinating, with two MAJOR exceptions: 1) Characters/Places changed right in the middle of chapters (VERY jarring to say the least) and 2) THE BOOK IS UNFINISHED! I can forgive the first item, because the characters and situations are so compelling, but I cannot forgive the 2nd item in any way. At least if the book is an unfinished multi-part series, WARN US UP FRONT! I read the entire book (very long too) and felt utterly cheated at the abrupt end which came out of nowhere. I will never read anything from this author again, that is for certain. An I would recommend that others beware!
Rating: Summary: Far Edge of Darkness Review: Very good book and entertaing; however, it stopped in mid-stream and the next book that was to take us to the end was never published. I understand that Ms. Evans became ill, but by now the new book should have been published. I'm still waiting.
Rating: Summary: Great, but unfinished Review: Word to those who have not yet started this book - it simply stops. No closure, no finish. It's like reading a book which has the last few pages torn out. That said, the book really is wonderful.....it's a rare book which keeps me up till midnight on a work night. Colorful characters, riveting storyline, heart-wrenching drama. If you can handle having the book stop just when the main characters are about to ............ then give it a read. Note to Author: WARN us when it's a cliffhanger and the sequel isn't available!
