Rating: Summary: A MUST BUY! (revised) Review: First off, I would like to quote the back of the book, so you, the reader can get a general idea of the story.
"Rallan, a powerful magician, destroys the city of Mt. Geitu, setting the wheels in motion to fulfill a prophecy that has lain in wait for nearly five hundred years. Aviar's only hope of protection against Rallan's malevolent will is to unite her three sons, who are ignorant of their true identities. Facing an uncertain future, an odd band of travelers begins the search:
Era, a spirtied, fiery-haired Clearling.
Lore, a magician of the Temple of Fate.
Tyr, Lore's adventurous and loyal friend.
Tekal, modest, proper, and privaleged.
Staf, a trained soldier quick to anger.
The fate of Aviar hangs in the balance. The stakes are high, but the price of failure is unimaginable."--Aviar: Shadows of Destiny.
The description from the back of the book alone is interesting enough to hook any reader into the intriguing story that unfolds in the world of Aviar. You are lead into a world, where things are quite common and normal, while such things aren't in this world. The relationships of humankind are similar in both our world, as in Aviar.
As you read along, you will find yourself becoming attached to many characters, then detaching as you find new ones. This happened on many occasions to myself. I would start to like a character, then find a new character i liked. It's always a good sign when you can become attached to a character.
Cassandra Lynn has succeeded in creating a world, where anyone can divulge themselves to escape a sense of reality. She is owed so much for creating such a world, and I congratulate her accomplishment.
Above all i believe this novel is a great tale. It flows with elegance, and keeps the reader involved. Many times i found myself not wanting to put the book down despite the fact i knew i had to sleep. The author, Cassandra Lynn, has done a wonderful job, and her writing is extraordinary. I found it hard to believe that this was a first novel. I hope to read her following works, and wish her the best of luck. So don't hesitate to buy this novel.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, a must read for any sci-fi/fantasy fan! Review: If you like the Lord of the Rings or Dune, you'll love this book. Even though this is her first book you'd never know it. It is an exciting and fantastic book. I won't give anything away, as to ruin your experience *ahem Gryffon*, just check it out and enjoy your time in Aviar, as I did.
Rating: Summary: Shockingly impressive work from newly published young author Review: Suffice it to say--this author is one to watch. Aviar is a delicious work with lucrative promise in the sequels. Remember the name Cassandra Lynn because her break-out success will not typecast her to a genre. She is so uniquely talented with character formation, plot development, and story-telling I predict she will impact fiction tremendously through a myriad of mediums over the length of her writing career. Aviar is a hands-down indication of Lynn's immense talent. The intricately created world of Aviar mirrors well the intricateness of each of its characters. When the two are integrated well it is truly a measure of a writer's skill. Lynn dances artfully with her pen while her characters and their world penetrate the reader's conscious and unconscious minds. Bravo to Aviar and Cassandra Lynn, her work inspires dreams.
