Rating: Summary: Death of Science Fiction Review: When I was young I restricted my reading almost exclusively to two genres, History and Science Fiction. They were filled with the nobility of the human race and were often emotionally satisfying. After returning from a year in Vietnam in the late '60's where my romantic view of humanity was severely burised I was emotionally spent and thought some good SF might pick me up. I picked up this book along with "Cities in Flight" and "Stand on Zanzibar". I spent an entire weekend and part of the following week, nearly 24 hrs a day riveted to the pages of these books.I haven't read a science fiction book since. These three books drained the life out of anything Science Fiction can possibly give us. I have been to the mountaintop and it's all down hill from there.
Rating: Summary: An absolute must read Review: Wow, I have read this book several times. It is so thought provoking, that I had to buy another copy when I lost my original. Of all the SF books I read, this has to be one of the first books I recommend to other readers. What a shame it is out of print now.
