Rating: Summary: A bit disappointing Review: After reading the truly wonderful "The Forever King", I could barely wait to delve into this sequel. After finishing the novel, I must admit that I felt some disappointment. The villian of the story is so similar to the villian in "The Forever King" that they might as well be clones. Arthur's Aunt Emily is barely in the story at all. Her brief appearance seems to hint at another sequel. A new character, Beatrice, is introduced. She spends most of the story in a hospital while Arthur stays at her bedside. The Knights of the Round Table are released from Camelot and join Hal on a quest to protect Arthur. The Knights are hopelessly outdated, and while this provides some great comic relief at first, the endless drinking and bar-wrecking become mind numbing. The story once again revolves around a villian who is out to get the grail at any cost. I do hope that if Cochran & Murphy write another sequel, it will have a totally different plot and villian. I did like the book enough that I will buy the sequel if or when it is published, and I'll hope that it is as captivating as "The Forever King."
Rating: Summary: A sequel that does itself proud Review: Again Cochran and Murphy have done themselves proud. They have taken one of the most written about legends, King Arthur and the Holy Grail, and breathed new life into an old legend. These two authors have done something that I personally didn't think could be done, they made King Arthur nobler than any legend you may have read. This book is exciting and fast paced so don't get any ideas about reading this book before you go to bed or else be ready to be awake all night. The only knock against the book could be the shifting of centuries in the story. Yet that is handled so well you wish they would have made this into two books so you could read their revision of the story and the modern story seperatley. I highly recommend this book and the prequel
Rating: Summary: Worth the read Review: I didn't read The Forever King (yet), but I still really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a stand-alone novel until I started looking for other books by the authors. The book opens by introducing us to characters that lived during the Middle Ages who have been reborn here in the modern world. Arthur is 13 years old, and he's being protected by Hal (Galahad) and Taliesin. They meet up with another young girl, Beatrice, who was once the Innocent. They're helped out by knights like Launcelot and they're being chased by ancient enemies. The story revolves around the Holy Grail which takes the form of a cup with the power to heal. I thought this was a very creative take on the old King Arthur legend. The good characters are all very likeable and the bad characters are easy to hate. The fact that it was set in modern times made the characters easy to relate to and gave freshness to the book. Regardless of the number of pages, this wasn't a very long read. I read it in one sitting on an airplane. But it left a feeling of satisfaction. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy the legend of King Arthur but want to see something different. I would also recommend it to fantasy fans who like it when the real world collides with the fantasy world.
Rating: Summary: A WORK OF ART!!! JUST AS GOOD AS THE FIRST Review: I love this follow-up to The Forever King. The characters were awesome and the story is interesting and engaging. I just wish there were more books in the series. If you enjoy King Author or just good story then this book and its predecessor are great reads.
Rating: Summary: 5 stars.....BUT Review: It's OK to like this book. it's friendly, it's fuzzy, it's... it is, in the end, a kid's book written for adults. Or an adults book, written for kids. Thoroughly enjoyable, a good adventure based on all the old stories and fables. It's a yarn that needed to be told (wasn't Arthur known as the once and future king?) and Cochran and Murphy tell it well. The sequel will be interesting - a republican king? And what will Charles, Camilla, Henry, and all that pasty-faced lot do? Listen - if you have any interest in the Arthurian stories, you'll have to read it, because it does add to the lexicon. But if you want something that tells what Arthur and Co. might have really got up to, go to Amazon's Bernard Cornwell site, and buy the Winter King series. Now, that's Arthur!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT NOVEL!! Review: Murphy and Cochran have done themselves well with this novel. Although I liked The Forever King better, this novel also intrigued me. First of all, let me list the few faults this novel had compared to the first one: it was a lot darker than the first novel, it had too much on the history of the characters, and it didn't even develop the evil character, Aubrey Katsuleris (Thanatos). Sure, he was developed in some way, but Cochran and Murphy could have taken out about 15 of the 70 or so historical pages involving Arthur and Taliesin, and put Katsuleris into it. Next, the good things: it displayed Merlin's past, which is good in some ways, we got to see the knights come together again, the bad guy was a lot better in this one, and it was just so great! Worth reading, although I advise you all to read The Forever King before this one.
Rating: Summary: A bit disappointing Review: The is a sequel to The Forever King and, like most sequels, it doesn't measure up. Pass it by.

Rating: Summary: better than the first one! Review: Yeah so I'm not usually into sequels but damn, this book kicked so much! I loved the Forever king, but the Broken sword is even better! I love the new characters and when I finished it I was dissapointed. It should've been longer! I wish there had been a sequel to this one as well.
