Summary: This is a great book.
Review: I have read every book out there on M:TG. This is my all time favorite book. A great way to learn how to prepare for PTQ's, through a person who's done it many times.

Summary: Finally, a report on Magic that isn't self-serving.
Review: It was a pleasure to read a "down-home", honest, and earnest report chronicling the life of a Magic player in pursuit of the professional circuit. Mr. Wakefield's book is a unique and priceless entry into what has traditionally been a genre dictated by hubris-ridden pro players after a fast buck or self-serving informationals from the producers of the sport. I look forward to more such books by this author.

Summary: Share Jamie's tourney experiences
Review: Magic has got to be one of the most fun games ever created, and even reading about someone elses partaking in that fun makes for an enjoyable reading experience. Jamie's book is pretty much a personal dairy completely pertaining to his preparation for and in Magic tournaments.

He'll give you some idea about what makes a tournament winning deck, of course, only your practice will ever perfect this. He opened my eyes to the fact that a majority of the decks are built around the key cards of each color. i.e. If you're playing black, you're probably facing Necro. What this means for you--even if you don't get to play frequently--is you can browse the internet to find out the trend decks or cards and be pretty certain you'll face them on the tournament scene. Right now, Masticore and Cursed Scroll seem to be biggies for several of the top decks.

In a sentence, you can learn a lot about what to expect at Pro Tours without ever leaving your home. This book was a fun read.

Summary: GREAT BOOK
Review: My name is Tom Teman and I'm from Israel. some of u may know me as mtg_addict. This book just kept me tentalized. When u read this book u just hope that Jamie wins. u find yourself reading franaticly through the pages, passing some words just wanting to see who won. ALl of the decks Jamie played appear in the end and its nice to look at them, and if u are a vetern player as me, remember when we used cards like ivory gargoyle, jakulhaups and more stuff like that. Enjoy this book. I know I did.
