Summary: Very Enjoyable
Review: After having spent the last couple years reading text books for school, I was ready for a great adventure. Although Rabe's Downfall was not the greatest book in the world, it did satisfy my immediate needs. The thing I thought was hokey is a couple times when one of the main characters, Maldred, uses magic to win the heart of his traveling companion, Fiona, and all I could think of is that it's the Jedi Mind Trick all over again. Oh well. The book had it's moments and was good enough that I ordered the other two books in the series.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Although I am one of the select few who hasn't read any of her previous works, Jean Rabe is an amazing author. I particularly liked the way she described the characters and plot. She didn't dwell on how the sweat dripped from his forehead, yet she gave enough information that you knew what was happening at all times. I enjoyed this because I was not bored with details about someone who may die in a few chapters. I highly recommend this book, but only if you read the War of Souls first, to give you an idea of what has happened.

Summary: Dragonlance: Downfall the legend of Dhamon
Review: Downfall by Jean Rave is very well planned out. The plot is easy to seperate from the details of book. The adventure in the story is engrossing. and mysterious. While teh characters are journeying around and the events take place, no matter what the story alwyas stay on track of it's main plot. It's a good stroy, but it's like a movine-if you miss a poart, then it doesn't make sense at all. The plot of the story is clear and easy to follow. While reading the story, I admit it was hard to remember all of teh hundreds of citeis that they had traveld to. But it was also easy to understand the past of teh main character. Since the book is part of a saga, the ending that led to the sequels wasn't too vague. The antagonist and the heros of the book aren't all that hard to seperate, but they could use a little work. It was really amazing to me how the author how the author made you feel like you were part of the story. The book also described the characters very vividly. I could easily picture each of the characters personalities. The way the book was written, it felt like something important was always happening and that none of the information was there just to make it look long. The author made all of the creatures come to life and made a wonderful book to read.

Summary: Dragonlance: Downfall the legend of Dhamon
Review: Downfall was the first book I read from Dragonlance realm, big mistake on my part. But I didn't learn and thought the second book of this series, betrayl, would be better. BoyO', I was wrong.

Downfall starts off with the main character, Dhaemon, being an uninteresting and very annoying, it ends the same way too. The plot and the characters were very hard to believe and were even harder to like. After finishing this book it left me with nothing, except a strongly dislike towards dragonlance novels and for a couple of years I refused to read them. But don't worry, I like Dragonlance now.

Even if you have read the core books (chronicles and legends) and are looking for other dragonlance novels, stay clear of this one. It's really horrible.

Summary: Almost worth 4 stars....almost
Review: I don't know what horrible-writing demon possess Jean Rabe but she needs to exorcise it. I almost quit reading this book after 30 pages because the scatter-brain writting style Jean's imfamous for poisoned the story. I kept reading however & her writing eventually straighted out.

The plot was great & the characters were alright. The Dhamon character doesn't appeal to me like most of the DL characters do but he's interesting enough to be readable. Some day I intend to read the next 2 books in the series but now I`m off to start on The War Of Souls trilogy & then I`m taking a long break from DL to start on the Star Wars series that I've been neglecting for the last 3 yrs.

Summary: Engrossing characters, fast-moving action
Review: I like almost all the DragonLance books I read -- and I read a lot of them. I'm a diehard Weis and Hickman fan, and now I'm a Rabe fan, too. I love the Dhamon character she created in her previous books and which she nurtures in this book. He's changed, and now he's gritier and selfish. THe characters have lots of depth, and there's a good mix of angst. I'm looking forward to reading the others.

Summary: Is this a joke?
Review: Taking place after Rabe's "Dragons of a New Age" trilogy, Downfall brings into play one of the major characters that made her first books so interesting. Dhamon Grimwolf, an ex-Knight of Takhisis and hero from the New Age books, has become a common theif. He is in league with an interesting half-elf lover, a kobold, and a man named Maldred who is a little more than he seems.

This books also brings back the chracters of Rig and Fiona, both of which were major players in Rabe's New Age series. Together, this group of uncommon partners travel as one, both searching for something different. Dhamon is looking for a cure for the painful scale in his side. Fiona decided to travel with the thieves in an effort to save her brother who is a prisoner in Sable's (The black overlord) swamp. All things come together, but this book doesn't really have a climax or an ending. It finishes when it could have gone on for another 100 or so pages.

While I can't say that this book was great, it was was at most readable. I enjoyed Rabe's "Dragons of a New Age" trilogy much more than I liked this book. It is a little slow to read. Though there are a few exciting parts that add some fun. The characters have room to build, and hopefully that room is used. If you are a fan of Rabe, or of Dhamon Grimwolf, then this is the book for you.

Summary: Jean Rabe
Review: Well, I guess compared to "Mr. Amazon.com" I am a weirdo. I mean, I found that Rabe's 5th Age trilogy was great. It wasn't the typical Margaret Weis/Tracy Hickman style that I was used to, which was very welcome. It introduced new characters and caused me to wait anxiously for the next installment of the series.

When I saw Downfall on the bookshelf I put down all the other books I was going to buy and just bought it. I couldn't wait to read it; so instead of waiting until I got home, I sat in my truck in the parking lot for a good 2 hours just reading. It was nice to see that the same characters were here, well those that lived at least; and I am sure that with all the refrences to Goldmoon, and Palin, that we can expect them in book 2 of the Dhamon Saga.

Good work Jean!

Summary: Jean Rabe has has done it again with Dhamon
Review: Yes, we all know this Dhamon fellow to be an ex-Dark Knight, could have been hero, but was robbed of the chance by the great red Malys. Jean Rabe has seemed to capture the idea that this is one of her better characters in the three part trilogy The Dawning of a New Age, etc. I was taken by the fact that she has been able to see that people can change, sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worst as is shown through Dhamon. And how those decisions we make influence the people around us who know us.

The storytelling of this book raps up the events of Dhamon as he struggles with himself and his ex-comrades who accompanied him in the earlier three part series The Dawning of a New Age. This being the start of the series, its too early to tell how Rabe will fare in her new Dhamon series. I am still waiting for the inevitable climax to form my opinion, however Dhamon shocked me in this book! I am left to wonder if the strange dragon scale that he bears has something to do with his strange behavior? I forsee that we shall know the answer to that in later books. Overall, this book was not what I expected.
