But upon a tip from a friend of mine, I obtained a copy of Blake Petit's "Other People's Heroes" and I can honestly say that I had a hard time putting it down. Petit's character development is very good and while he brings you into a situation that you obviously have never been in, but you can relate with the characters (much like Kevin Smith of View Askew fame). His storyline is solid and well developed with several small subplots to keep you constantly wondering what's going to happen next and what kind of curveball is waiting around the corner. The end has a sort of a "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" feel to it which I feel helps relate the story that is obviously fiction to the true-to-life world around us. For a first-time effort, Petit's "Other People's Heroes" is a keeper.

It is fun, silly, funny, and stupendious all at the same time.Premise seemed silly, but that attracted me to it. It doesn't fit nicely into any specific catagory, but at the same time, you just won't want to put it down. The writing is fun and flows nicely. It takes an ultimately unbelievable premise and makes you want to believe. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anybody who loves to read. Kids, Adults, Students, beginner and advanced readers. It is the kind on book where you can't wait to get to the end, but when you do, you wish it would have lasted much longer. Worth reading and re-reading. Very entertaining.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Fast, funny, and hip Review: I read this book some time ago, and I've finally gotten around to reviewing it. "Other People's Heroes" is a quick read - it's quickly paced and relies heavily on plot to move things along. That said, Petit's characters are well-developed, though they do tend to fall into types. Of course, it's an homage to superhero comics, so that's not really a weakness. As an English teacher, I can honestly say that "Other People's Heroes" is accessible to readers from elementary school on up, without feeling like it caters only to kids or teenagers. There's plenty of adult-level entertainment here. It's a hard book not to like.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Highly Recommended! Review: This book brings you into a whole new world and makes it believable. It has suspense and humor. The writing is excellent, but always accessible. The book is clean enough (and fun enough!) that you can feel confident and comfortable recommending it to anybody. Don't dismiss this as "just a book about superheroes"-- it has depth and poignance. I was so sorry when it ended-- I hope this author publishes more novels!
