Rating: 4 stars
Summary: great story
Review: I'd give this an even higher rating (I liked it that much) but there are errors due to the lack of a decent editor. Small publishing houses often seem to have this problem and that's too bad. I loved this book all the same. Haven't read Hatch's others but this made me want to. Loved the story and characters.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: five stars for the characters and story
Review: Richard Hatch understands these characters and what makes them tick. He also knows how to update Battlestar Galactica and give the old myth new life. He adds new characters, new technology, new ideas, while maintaining the soul of the original. It's not easy to do this sort of thing. Hatch pulls it off very well. He introduces new ideas and explores old concepts from the series too. He brings back favorite characters but explores them more deeply. Hatch bridges the gap between yesterday and today. New elements are mixed well with classic elements so that Battlestar is new but faithful to the orignal. It's a damned impressive feat. All sequel makers should learn from Hatch. The editing needs improvement (nobody like to pay for typos)but Hatch has a gift for understanding characters and sharing those insights with the readers. Paradis is more introspective than some episodes of the show but there's so much heart and insight that I will gladly read more BSG novels by Mr Hatch.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Get a better editor
Review: The story's not bad if you can get past the mis-spelled words, dialogue of people who aren't even in the scenes, very little transitions and terrible use of pronouns. Richard needs to get a better editor.
