Rating: Summary: Good Romulan book Review: The Romulan Prize is a good, well written book. The storyline is interesting, though the aliens at the end seemed like they were just thrown in. The beginning of the book was suspenseful and very startling. I liked the way the Enterprise crew really had to think to outwit the Romulans, and how Picard had to try to regain control of an out-of-hand situation. A very good novel, with nice action and character development.
Rating: Summary: Not much of a book Review: This book's pretty boring, I'm sorry to say. It's not written all that well, with sloppy dialogue and ineffective action/suspense scenes. The ending is nothing more than an sf deus ex machina, a cop out. Go watch your favorite TNG episode instead.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, excellent story. Review: This is one of the best-written Star Trek stories I've read, and I've read a lot. It is tightly plotted, with excellent characterizations both of the established characters and those unique to the story, superb pacing, and none of the sloppy proofreading so common to mass-market paperbacks in general and science fiction in particular. As near as I can tell, this is the first Star Trek story written by this author; I hope he's written (and/or will write) many more.
