Rating: Summary: Nope, no redemption... Review: ...either for K.A. or Rachel. This is an interesting installment in that it exposes the escalating internal stresses in the Animorphs, and it's pretty much the beginning of the end for Rachel's already dubious sanity. However, I was extremely disappointed at the length of the book, or lack thereof: the first six chapters were devoted to her nightmares, and for the rest of the narrative absolutely nobody knows what's going on - possibly a triumph for Applegate and her current ghostwriter, but ultimately fruitless because it's difficult to care enough to entangle oneself in these answerless ambiguities. Also, there were too many references to the other books - presumably the author realises only a die-hard fan would sit through this - and far too much Rachel, on the whole. I wanted to know what everyone else REALLY thought, as opposed to what Rachel in her overweening egotism and guilt imagined them to think. Instead of such a cop-out ending, I think that Applegate should have concerned herself with the rest of the gang's reactions and the general ramifications of the episode - the absence of these factors accounts for the feeling that the book should have been at least thirty pages longer. K.A, this really isn't good enough. Worst of all, Rachel is losing her 'voice' through ghost writing. Please, this is an important aspect of the series: the psychological consequences. Please devote it the time it deserves.
Rating: Summary: I knew he would be back Review: Do you remember David from books 20 21 22 of Animorphs well he's baaack. With a vengence for Rachel who else would he want?Cassie? I don't think so. David returns with the help of Cryak and the Drode to get Rachel again to kill someone. Someone like Visser One ( whom we all know and love our # 1 andalite host buddie). Well of course it's a sweet deal. Rid the world of him and the Yeerks are goners right? Wrong. What will the Animorphs do when the Yeerks are gone, be normal? I couldn't be a normal teen after all that. So if you like Animorphs this is a god book for you.
Rating: Summary: David the psycopath is back Review: I am a serious Animorph fan and when I read this book I thought it was pretty good because Rachel Could finally figure out what she would do if she could fight Visser Three aka Visser One. I thought it would be boring because I'm not a big Rachel fan although I like her attitude about fighting the Yeerks. When I read it though It was good.
Rating: Summary: An adequate portrayal of Rachel that's long-overdue Review: I consider "The Return" one of the best books in the Animorphs series. Applegate and Harkrader use a clever and creative method to instill an atmosphere that's chilling and realistic. Difficult ethical questions are introduced and the answers hold astonishing wisdom. Rachel's voice has truly been lost through recent ghostwriters. This is due to the high level of difficulty which I'm sure ghostwriters Elise Smith and Emily Costello have discovered when attempting to portray this complex character. This book's importance to the series is unmistakable; with a mere handful of books before the series' conclusion, having an understanding of Rachel's emotions will prove essential. Readers who have not read previous Animorphs books should read them if they wish to fully appreciate this book. It's a great series, and more so when you take the time to read it thoroughly. The ending is left incomplete because K.A. doesn't have all the answers- no one does. That final, burning question has no sure answer, and you must decide for yourself. This book serves the greatest purpose of literature: encouraging both a comprehension of the world around us, and a desire to make decisions for oneself... therefore commencing the eternal legacy of intelect and learning. It is fairly well-written and is an enjoyable read that was worth my five dollars. I recommend it highly.

Rating: Summary: What an ending! (1 year old? yeah right!) Review: I think this book is very good despite the ending with a twist. I'ts up to you to decide what happens. Even though David was alittle crazy you can't blame him and in the end you just feel sorry for him. He doesn't want to go back to the rock and live as a rat or live in the sewers he wants rachel to kill him..... All rachel wants is to do the "right thing". Should she take him back to the rock? Thats what she wants to do but when david begs her to kill him she tries to get him to run awy so hes not her problem anymore. But david wants her to kil him because thats the right thing to do, to end his misery... but does rachel kill him? could she bring herself to do it despite her tough talk? We never know but I think she would in the end to set david free from his living nightmare. This book is great and deserves to be read by all you animorphs fans out there across the world!
Rating: Summary: Not-so-Shocked Review: K.A. Applegate is slowly displeasing most of her younger fans. Twisted plot lines, uneven endings, and shorter books just keep coming. Terrible. I expected so much as this series got farther and farther. Each time I have been disapointed. Though I find myself slowly growing out of these books, I still enjoy reading about my favorite characters, Rachel, Cassie, Marco, Jake, Tobias, and Ax. Please think about what you are looking for when you buy this book.
Rating: Summary: good..... but RANDOM!!!! Review: okay, so this book was deep and meaningful, but toally piontless. things are just getting exciting , and then this. it was a great book(earning my 4 stars) but should have been placed earlier like in between #25 and #40 when things began to get predictable.(the yeerks do something, the animorphs stop them, WHOOPEE!!!)but other than that, great job, ka!!
Rating: Summary: O.K. book Review: This book may not have been the best of Ms. Applegate's writing (The Illusion and the Andalite Chronicles topping the charts) but it wasn't as bad as some of the more disappointing ones (The Ellimist Chronicles). After all, it could have been a bit longer, but the ending wasn't as bad as the customer reviews are making it seem; she wrote that ending for the people with enough imagination to come up with it further. True, she didn't explain much of the back story, and people who aren't familiar with the series would get confused, but...? This is for the fans who have lasted this long to find the return of the rat. If you don't get it, try going back and starting from book one.
