Rating: Summary: Animorphs one of my favorite sci-fi series Review: Animorphs is definitely a great series from pre-teens and kids in their early teens. I really enjoyed all of the ones I've read so far. They are about five regular kids whose lives were turned upside down. When a dying alien called an Andalite comes to Earth and tells them the planet is under a secret attack from a race called Yeerks, he gives them the incredible power to morph into any animal they acquire. The Invasion starts off the whole crazy saga the kids go on to stop the Yeeks from completely taking over Earth. It's a great book that's very fun and intersting to read and I definitely recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Animorphs: The Invasion Review: Author: Katherine A. Applegate Summary: Five kids are walking home from the mall one night when an alien spaceship comes down to them. In the spaceship is an alien called an Andantilite. The Andantilite comes down to the kids and tells them that another group of alien's had already invaded earth, the alien that had already invaded the earth, were small enough that they crawl through the humans ear and start to control them, they are then called human-controllers. He also told them that all throughout the universe there are other species of animals, and aliens that are also being controlled. The Andandtilite then gave the kids power to morph, morph into animals, thus the name Animorphs. These five kids will have save the world from these controllers, by using the power to morph and use the special features that each one of their animals has. They will have to learn to overcome the mind of the animal from overtaking their mind and to learn as much as possible about these controllers Recommendation: I would recommend this book to kids in 5th or 6th grade, a boy or a girl and/ or kids that enjoy reading SciFI and kids that enjoy books that have a lot of suspense, and action like this book does.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: First, let me just say that I'm on a mission to re-read all the Animorphs books and review them. Okay, that being said, I will tell you about this book. It is about 5 kids named Jake, Marco, Tobias, Cassie, and Rachel. They are walking home one night through a construction site when an alien ship lands right in front of them. Out pops a wounded Andalite Prince(think of a blue centaur with no mouth, two extra eyes on stalks, and a scopion tain) named Elfangor who tells the kids that the Earth, specifically the American city that they live in, is under invasion by a race known as the Yeerks, tiny worms who enter through the ear and take over a creature by wrapping themselves around the brain. They have already taken over the Hork-Bajir(humanoid T-Rexes with loads of blades all over them) and the Taxxons(Extremely large cannibalistic worms), and now they want the 6 billion humans on Earth as hosts(known as controllers) to fight in the war they have with the Andalites, who are the intergallactic good-guys. He decides to give the kids a weapon, the power to morph any animal they touch, from a blue box. Then the leader of the Yeerk invasion, Visser 3, shows up. V3 is the only Yeerk to have captured an Andalite Host. The kids hide, V3 kills Elfangor, and the kids escape. The story is told from the character of Jake, who becomes the group's leader. They discover a lot, including that Jake's bro, Tom, is a controller and that a group known as The Sharing(think the boy and girl scouts combined) is a Yeerk run organization used to infest people who join. Anyway they get some strong morphs(elephant, tiger, gorilla) and go down to the underground complex known as the Yeerk Pool(the Yeerks need to go into one every three days to feed or they will die) and kick some butt. The Animorphs get their clocks cleaned, but they manage to escape. However, Tobias stays in his Hawk morph for more than 2 hours and is trapped forever. Basically, it's an okay start to a series that gets better in time. P.S. I promise I won't go on as long in my next reviews!
Rating: Summary: Great children's book Review: I recently read several of my younger brother's Animorphs books, and they are fairly interesting, easy to read books. Book #1, like all the rest of the series, has one character (in this case Jake) telling the story. Some friends go by an construction site where they see a spaceship land. A creature comes out and says that Earth is being invaded by the Yeerks, slugs which enter a person's brain and control their actions. Nobody knows who these people, Controllers, are. The creature gives the kids special powers to morph into any animal that they've touched and acquired the DNA of. They go on and try to save the world. This is an excellent book for younger children. They are interesting and suspenseful, yet short and easy to read.
Rating: Summary: A good start to a great series Review: I started reading animorphs when I was only 10 or so, I am 16 now. I don't read much, but im trying. I read 17 animorphs books before I seemed to think I was "too old" for them. I loved them then and still do now. I just read "the Invasion" again last night and I am hoping to now read the entire series because it is very good. I have never been able to read any books as fast as the Animorphs series. It seems that you just want to know what's gonna happen next always and the only way to find out is to read on to the next chapter. It seems that there are some problems with the way it is written. I see the writer saying "___ and ____ and ____ and ___" rather than "," , but than again maybe she did it because the story teller is supposed to be young. I think I will move on to bigger books now since I have really been missing out. plot - 5 kids get powers to morph into animals from an alien who tells them that other aliens are already taking over the human race. That's just the begging of it , Im not gonna spoil it.
Rating: Summary: The first Animorphs Review: I'm back again, here to tell you about the first Animophs book. It's told by Jake, the leader of the Animorphs, and it tells how Jake and the others meet Elfongor, the andalite prince fatally injured in a battle between his species and the evil (mostly) parasitic yeerks, and get the morphing power. It is extreamly well-told, with good descriptions of the aleins and feelings and emotions explained well. Alot of the story takes place in the abandened construction site, whare the Animorphs first see the yeerks, including Visser Three who has an Andalite host body and watch as he brutally kills Elfongor. But they now have the morphing power, so the natural leader Jake, his feirce cousin Rachel, gentle Tobais, smart mouthed Marco and Animal lover Cassie start the battle to save the world, equiped with with the DNA of any mammal, bird, reptile or insect they touch. An exelent book to start off an exelent sereis. PS For those of you who can't work out the naration order of Animorphs, book numbers ending in 1 or 6 are Jake books, 2 and 7 are Rachel books, 3 are Tobais books, 4 and 9 are Cassie books, 5 and 0 are Marco books and 8 are Ax books, although this order changes at book 46.
Rating: Summary: Some people never change. Some do... Review: Jake, Rachel, Cassie, Tobias, and Marco were all just average friends and teens. But all of that changed when they met an Andalite, a strange creature not from Earth. Now, the Andalite has given the teens a power--the power to turn into animals. But the kids must use this power to destroy Yeerks, creatures who take over human's minds and plan to take over the entire human race. The teens, now called Animorphs, soon discover that using their powers to save the world sounds easier than it actually is. When I first started reading this book, I thought it would be really weird. It didn't seem like the kind of book that I would like. But I was wrong. It was really interesting. Anybody could be hooked on this series, as it has science fiction, humor, horror, a little fantasy, drama, and a wee bit of romance. When you finish this book, it'll start to make you think about trusting the people you love. But don't let that stop you from reading the rest of the books in the series!
Rating: Summary: Some people never change. Some do... Review: Jake, Rachel, Cassie, Tobias, and Marco were just average teenagers when they decided to take the shortcut home through the abandoned construction site. But in that construction site, they learned the secret from Elfangor, a dying Andalite. Things called Yeerks have the power to invade the bodies of anyone. The Yeerks plan to take over the world by doing this. And now, Elfangor has given the five kids the power to morph into any animal they want. Using this power, they can fight the Yeerks.
At first, the kids just want to believe that their experience was all a dream. But they realize that it's no dream when they try out their morphing powers. Things get even more scary when Jake discovers that his brother, Tom, has been invaded by a Yeerk. Now, it's up to them to destroy the Yeerks and save the world. They are the Animorphs.
THE INVASION is the first Animorphs book, and it is definitely an amazing way to start out the series. We learn about all the major characters and some of the species that most humans are unfamiliar with. And although this book appears to be for kids, it's pretty intense. I would recommend this book (and series) to anyone--especially people who love sci-fi.
Rating: Summary: The Animorphs Review: Katherine A. Applegate writes a cool story about aliens. Though short, this book is very good. For the next 20, maybe 30 books in this series, it stays good. Unfortunately, it goes on until book 52, and it is not very good for those last 22 books. But once you start it, you want to know what happens in the end. And because you want to hear more about Marco, the funny one; Jake, the leader; Cassie, the animal lover; Rachel, the reckless one; Tobias, the 'bird-boy'; and Axe, the alien who joins them. Not to mention all the other aliens that are really neat - the Andalite's, the Yerks, the Hork-Bajir, and everything else.
Rating: Summary: And so starts 66 reviews.... Review: The Animorphs series is actually just 65 books, but there was one parody made, so i'll include that. Anyway, the Animporh series spans 54 'regular' books, 4 Megamorphs, 1 "meet the cast of animorphs" book, 2 "Alternamorphs" books, 5 'Chronicals" books, and one parody. Each book is told from the perspective of one of six people: Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Marco, Cassie, and Ax. This book focuses on Jake, and is the start of the series. Nearly each book starts the same, "My name is ______. Just ______." Anyway, this book tells about how Jake and the crew (minus Ax, we don't know about him until the 6th book) gained the power to morph from a dying alien. He warned them of an enemy, Yeerks, which are parasitic aliens that crawl in through your ear and controll your brain. The power to morph allows them to become animals. However, they cannot stay in a morph for more than 2 hours or they will be stuck in that morph forever!
