Rating: Summary: Letters to Kathleen Review: A wonderful tribute to a great lady, who I knew most of my life. She was dedicated to eradicating TB, and with her husband, Lew, were true Pioneers in the field. As a child I experienced her love of children, and her patience with same. But this book has added much to my knowledge of her, and I am so happy someone told me about it. The resort, "Birchwood Acres", that she and her husband owned on Kabekona Lake, was operated by my parents, and was located near a small town called Laporte. Bobby and Jeanie Fudge, when children, would come and stay with Kathy at the resort when she was able to take time for herself. Her French accent was always evident, her sense of humor also, and I believe this book covers all "bases" of her life. Many thanks to the author, Amy Narvestad.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring true story Review: Greatness sometimes comes in the form of hard work and a refusal to give up no matter what hardships and tragedies come your way. "Letters to Kathy" is a biography about a great woman as reflected in the letters she received from family, colleagues, patients and friends. Between the lines is a wonderful love story. Some may give you chicken soup - "Letters to Kathy" is a full meal of comfort food for the soul.Note: Kathy was both a teacher and a good friend of mine, but much of the book is new to me. She comes alive in its pages.
