Summary: Very Very Good
Review: I dont usually read scifi because i find that genre lacks a bit in style but this book which by the cover i thought it was a thriller for some funny reason so i took it out and i can say one thing i definitely do not regret it . This book is full of what most books dont have and i think it is the realism. The gadgets in this books are explained in a such a scientific manner that at the end of the book you wonder if maybe such a gadget could be built and i thnk thats a big part of the book.

The book is about a world wide orginasation called the gaurdians . Their job is to stop inventions which human beings are not mature enough to deal with them for e.g an antigravity machine in this book. Cecil Byrne is the scientist who wants to build an antigravity machine which his great grandfather and grandfather also built but gaurdians interfered and they failed and while this is happening a group of gaurdians from britian and 1 from America travel to the town of Nowhere , Nevada to stop Byrne.

A very fats paced scifi which is most uncommon the only criticism that i have on this book is the characters history`s could be a little more elaborated on . I think this book is a wonderful book and deserves a 4 and a half stars.

Summary: THE GUARDIANS: Book I, The Krilov Continuum
Review: The Guardians: Book I, The Krilov Continuum By: J.M.H. Lovegrove

Publishing: September 1, 1999 ISBN: 1-57500-033-4; 352 pp 5.2" x 8"; trade paperback original.

Science and stability war in an intriguing conspiracy over the fate of mankind, revealing what many people have suspected for decades: We are not alone.

The first book in a new trilogy published in TV Books' growing list of Sci-Fi Channel books.

Thousands of years ago, beings from another dimension groomed humans to be intellectual giants, coaxing them out of their caves and into the light of reason. These paraterrestrial beings gifted them with vast scientific knowledge which they used to build a magnificent island city called Atlantis. In an uncontrolled explosion of human nature, they abused their power and were blown back to the Stone Age. The knowledge they had enjoyed was lost forever and the rubble of Atlantis was buried beneath a frozen wasteland we call Antarctica. Their "gods" backed away in disgust to develop a new plan for mankind.

Now, humanity is groping its way up the evolutionary ladder under the invisible supervision of the Guardians, a covert group of men and women chosen by the paraterrestrial beings to prevent us from annihilating ourselves. Their job is to restrain scientific advancement until our maturity catches up with our enthusiasm. The Guardians are what American conspiracy theorists have dubbed the "Men in Black." They view themselves as society's protectors, but not everyone is happy with enforced restraint. Some humans want to blast open the doors of human achievement, while factions in the alien government are eager to give humans whatever we need to destroy ourselves. In GUARDIANS: The Krilov Continuum, L. M. H. Lovegrove weaves ancient mysteries together with modern myths to provide an intriguing look at the complex dance between science and survival. Delve into hidden possibilities in the first book of the outstanding GUARDIANS trilogy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: L. M. H. Lovegrove is the nom de plume of Arthur C. Clarke Award shortlisted author James Lovegrove. Lovegrove also wrote The Hope, Days, and Escardy Gap.

Summary: well written SF thriller
Review: This is the first of two books (so far) about "the guardians" - a secret organisation of people world wide who limit human technological development - and who are soldiers in a secret war.

This book is full of conspiracy theories and human failing. The characters in this book are well developed and they are never swamped by a soap box pet theory of the authors. Instead the secret history we read about is something we all suspect, but instinctivley dis-believe.

Written for the Sci-Fi channel, we could only wish that most mini-series had the quality of the story we get in this book, with it's shades of gray.

If you like the x-files this is reccomended reading. Adventure with a twist. A shame that the series hasn't been finished yet.

Summary: The real deal
Review: When Science Fiction is still Science and Fiction. Lately a lot of SF books have been forgetting the Science part of SF. It was therefore a real pleasure to devoure this very intriguing and action packed SF novel where the author has clearly extended his futuristic view beyond that of already existing schemes ... Will definitely try more of the same author and review them here
