Rating: Summary: Just good ole' fashioned fantasy Review: Nothing special here...but nothing bad here either. A good fun fantasy book. Non-committal but engaging all the same.Niles does a decent job in portraying his characters and his world. Although some instances in the book seem contrived and a little too convenient, the characters are likable and the book is just a good quick read. I don't know if I'll continue the trilogy but the first in the series gets a big OK.

Rating: Summary: Well done, indeed Review: This book is a well written piece of fantasy. It does real credit to the category. I liked the way that the author altered the names of the races: digger=dwarf, sylve=elf, sartor=satyr, gigant=giant, and so forth. It is that type of creativity that really adds depth to a novel. I knew that with a comment from R.A. Salvatore on it, that the book had to be very good material. Truly enjoyable. The only thing I did not like, though, was the lack of explanation as to exactly what the "Watershed" is. It is a vital part of the book, yet I don't ever remember seeing where there was a definite, direct definition given. Other than that mild thing, it was fantastic.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best! Review: This book is one of the best that I've read. The author has the same potential as Robert Jordan or Terry Goodkind. The story just holds you in your seat and you better find a place to sit down if you decide to get the book because it's just one of those books that you can't put down once you've taken it up. Also try the other books in the Watershed Triology.
Rating: Summary: the best trilogy i've read yet Review: This book was like nothing i've ever read. It's characters were the best i've ever seen.It was a book that i could really go into.It made me lose all track of time, and every free minute i had i read it.I almost begane to cry when i finshed it because i knew the next one wouldn't be out for a while. So i had to wait and wait for the next one. Then i hunted down every book store for the next one when i heard it had come out.Over all this is a book that leaves you truely wanting more and never wishing it to end
Rating: Summary: A Great Start To an Okay Trilogy Review: This book, the first in the Watershed Trilogy is the best. The reader learns extensivly about the environment, and the characters begin to peak the reader's interest. It is a typical "good vs. evil" story, and there is little question, and ambiguity as to who or what is good or evil. The villains are sometimes more interesting that the heros. Over all, a good read, and the best book in the trilogy.
Rating: Summary: Engaging, but no new ground broken Review: This is a good read for those nights where you don't have anything special planned. The book is well written, and it keeps your attention quite well, although the story itself holds no new twists. The story of the Rudy and his companions is interesting and contains quite a number of trials and tribulations, but I found it a little hard to sympathise with him like I could with L.E. Modesitt Jr.'s Lerris for example. All in all, it's a pretty decent book though.
Rating: Summary: A Breach in the Watershed (Watershed Trilogy, Book 1) Review: This is the first of Douglas Niles books that I have read. The only other book that comes near it is the Hobbit. I love how he used different kinds of characters instead of ripping them off of other writers. He has the most convincing characters that you get connected to very easily. I was told by a lot of people that I should stop reading the book because it was to challenging for an eight grader, since I was thirteen then but now fourteen, but the way he got me rolled up in it I could not put it down. I even got sent down to the office for reading it on reading day in tap, tap is a 20 min. study hall. At times he had me reading until about 1-3 in the morning.
The thing I love most about this book is the characters. He gives them so much feelings, and each one gets to tell their own part of the story even the bad guys get their part in the story.
This book is a little weird in the beginning, but other wise is easy to understand and a fun filled fantasy. Where with out one character it would have gone down the drain.
The book is about an "Iceman" and how he saves his realm and his "Faerine" friends realm from the sleapstealer and his "eye", Nicodareus, and the betrayal prince of Galtigor. It is a non stop action filled fantasy with a little romance on the side. That will have you flipping page after page.
I will have to agree to what R.A.Salvatore said, "Absolutely nobody builds a more convincing fantasy realm than Douglas Niles."
Rating: Summary: Hero, princess in distress, evil god and magic! a sure win. Review: Very engaging fantasy romp. Well written, fast paced, characters you care about and story line that leaves you waiting for the next book. If you enjoy Robert Jordan (the first book or two), you will be in for a grand time!
