Summary: Interesting, but not quite plausible novel..
Review: Jim Aikin's "Wall at the Edge of the World" is highly imaginative, and has some interesting things to say, but unfortunely, the ending left something to be desired, and the writing could get a bit tedious. In this novel, a telepath named Danlo Ree discovers that his society is built upon a genocidal lie. Basically, his society is all telepaths, and a "hive mentality" is encouraged. Non-telepaths who are called "nulls" are ritually killed by beheading. Danlo is kidnapped by a group of wild women who escaped a mass slaughter centuries ago. Then, Danlo meets up with a few other telepaths, including a girl with an extraordinary ability, who agree with his viewpoint, and they try to save the "nulls" from destruction.

Summary: A nicely composed piece of science future
Review: The Wall at the Edge of the World is a dynamic piece of work. It centers around one man's mental awakening in a society of mind communicators and conditioners. The novel unfolds an intricate storyline through quiet complexities of thought and reason. It imposes the question of; If it is good for most of society is it always good for all of the people

Summary: One of my favorite books
Review: This is one of the best books that I have read. I don't know if Jim Aiken is still being published or not, but if you are able to find this book anywhere(I found it in a second hand shop) pick it up.

Summary: THis is one of the best science fiction novels of the 1990s.
Review: This is one of those books that you hope to find but seldom do. It is creative science fiction, not hard science fiction. The excellent writing accompanies a well-developed story that becomes hypnotic at the end. The book is something of a messiah tale. It is not a romping read, but it will return to the patient reader a reward far in excess of the effort put in. I loved this book. I wish it and Aiken's other books were more readily available. The fact that they are hard to find probably reflects on their literary appeal in a not-often-literary genre.

Summary: Much better than average; original
Review: This is probably one of my favorite 'after-the-apocalypse' novels (and I've read *many*) of the past 10 years. It's been a few years since I've read it, so I forget some of the details, but it's very original, and it stands above many of its contemporaries. The feel of the highly oppressive religious-based society is very real, as is the telepathic element. If you can find a used copy, I would definitely recommend it. A friend of mine loved it too.
