Summary: Rats
Review: ----I am read the book Rats and here are a few reasons why I like this book. The first reason why I like this book is because out of all the books I have read by this author this has been the best one so far. The second reason is that I can only read books that have action and suspense in them and to enjoy them too. The third reason is that I like books with blood and gore, and trust me this book has loads of that.

The best part of the book is at the beginning. Why? Well because that is the most gruesome part of the whole book. That is when Leroy the person that stays at the dump during the day, was shooting rats with his BB gun, but one day the rats took revenge on him and ate him completely except for the bones.

The conflict and the climax are the best story elements that are in this book. The conflict is that people have noticed an insrease in the rat population recently. I like the conflict in this book because thats when most of the people are getting scared to death by the rats. Also I like how the author expresses the characters emotions when they do get scared. The second is the climax because thats when everything breaks loose. All of the rats break out of the dump and they destroy anyone who gets in their way. I like the climax because Paul Zindel briefly describes how they escape from the dump.

Summary: Rats: Rudy's Review.
Review: Before I begin, I must say in all modesty that in order for someone to truly understand the nuance of this book, someone must be educated in the study of rats, enviormental issues, and have an appreciaton for arciteture, because that's the span of the "RATS". Well anayway, I'll give it a shot. The book entitled Rats is a novel about killer rats who are larger than normal rats, because of a chemical reaction at a landfill containing a buildup of Methane gas undwerground. Now of course we all have to stretch our imaginations to believe what or how this is possible, but when you read the story, the mutation of the rats was caused by the methane gas. As the story developes we are introduced to the two main charcters. Sarah 15 and her younger brther Michael 10. Sarah and michael play an important role in helping control the rat population at the end of the story. Since I do not want to give away all of the facts and mystery of the story I'll just say that there is a little bit of gore and blood, but that sould be expected when there are killer rats running around a small town and maybe Manhatten.

Summary: A compelling and chilling horror book
Review: Before reading "Rats," the only book I had ever read by Paul Zindel was The Pigman. After reading the back cover of "Rats", I knew I had to read it to see if Paul Zindel did as good a job with horror books as he did with fiction/drama books. "Rats" turned out to be a great book in every way. Thousands of rats are terrorizing the New York City area by appearing in toilets, pipes, and many other areas and then killing any person that they can sink their teeth into. 15-year-old Sarah and her ten-year-old brother Michael know a little bit about rats because they have an albino pet rat named Surfer. Their dad, Mr. Macafee is blamed by many people including the city mayor that it's his fault that these rats are doing this because he lives close to and takes a part in the city dump area where the rats first started their killing spree. Sarah and Michael have to use their knowledge of rats and find a way to save the people around New York City from being killed while trying to stay alive and escape the terror of the rats' claws themselves.

I liked "Rats" a lot better than I did The Pigman. I think Paul Zindel does a much better job writing horror books like "Rats." The book is unbelievably compelling and it's even scary at times. When I read about some of the explanations about what the rats looked like and how they terrorized the people, I could see a picture of a huge rat like it was staring me right in the face. If you like well written and compelling horror books, I definitely recommend getting "Rats."

Summary: Stereotypes!
Review: I find it sad that Paul Zindel uses rats as the evil, killing creatures in his book. It is stereotypes! The word 'rat' puts an image of a mangy, evil, squinty-eyed demon into our minds - which is done the work of this book. Rats are not like that! I think this book is a real downer! (Poor rats) No disrespect to Mr. Zindel, but to me, honestly, rats do not need such misunderstanding.

Summary: Rats and What its About
Review: I liked the book because of the action, twists, and chill's of not knowing what will happen next. For exampel town sudenly becomes infested with man eating rats and all of the attacks hapening every were.

The best part of the book is when the giant rat king comes out of the sewer after a bomb explodes and the main charecters think he's dead. And when they lest expect it he attacks.

The things the creator of this book is best at would be the suspense and the action. The book pulls you into the story to. That is why I like it.

Summary: What I think of this book
Review: I thought that this book by Paul Zindel was a well written book. But I also thought that it was very unoriginal. This type of story has been told in so many different ways. "The Birds", and a movie about bugs trying to get you, and the movie "Aracmaphobia", maybe we can think of something new and write about that. Maybe if I was a little bit younger I would have enjoyed this book a little more. Perhaps if I was not 17 but 13-14. But overall like I said this book was well written, and Zindel has a good imagination in how he writes how some of the people die, like Marge in her truck, that was crazy. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Title: Rats
Author: Paul Zindel

SUMMARY

This story is about two kids named Michael and Sarah. Michael is ten and Sarah is 14 or 15 years old. They have just moved to Staten Island from somewhere they do not tell you they do say that it was somewhere with the sun shining bright and the smell of the mountains was very converting. Their new house is right next to the Staten Island dump where there have been rat problems for many years. The reason that the book is called RATS is because that's what the book is all about. In the middle of the story something has gone wrong rats had escaped from the dump they lived in and were terrorizing the whole town by doing some nasty stuff by killing them and letting them rot and by a million of them eating someone apart. As the goes on it get worst and they find out the killer rats are heading to New York City and maybe ending Civilization, as we know it. So to find out how they come out trying to be the heroes you're just going to have to read it yourself.

REVIEW

I thought that this book was great it was very exciting and well detailed, it also keep me on my heels the whole timing because I did not know what was going to happen next. My favorite part of the book was at the beginning when the garbage man cleared the town garbage age was ruthlessly attacked and chewed to death.

Recommendations
I think that this book would be great for people who like killing and drama and cant wait for a great ending. This book keeps you waiting till the end and to find out how they come out you have to read to the end. Also I will tell people who like cruel killing and gore to read this book a hundred percent. If you don't like this stuff I am saying then if I was you I would not read this because it would not strike your interest like it did mine.
