Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: Reading this book makes one wish it would not end. The absolute passion that "Raven" feels after much strife, and the absolute determination he has for avenging his sisters violent death is mesmerizing. An absolute must read for those who love Aurthurian Novels.
Rating: Summary: Refreshing Look at Arthur's Court Review: The promos on the jacket did not do justice to this story. The book does an excellent job at describing what it could have been like for knights in the age of Chivalry. It covers loyalties, honor and courtly love in a twist of conflicts, conscience and love, all weaved masterfully into the Arthurian legend. The book is a bit lusty at times, but this adds to the story instead of detracting. Although I read almost anything Arthurian, this book sat on my shelf for a while, due to a lack of interest, had I known how good it was, I would have read it much sooner. If you like the main Arthurian characters and the legend, read this book
Rating: Summary: Quite DISGUSTING Review: This book did not live up to any expectations I had. The character is boring, really, and the story line is a little hard to follow. Rough edges turn up everywhere. Well, this is just my opinion, so don't think I'm trying to get all you people out there not to read it... the point of this book, however, was lost on me...THE MISTS OF AVALON is lovely, lyrical, and tragic. MORDRED'S CURSE is witty, amusing, and achingly easy to...comprehend. THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING is thought-provoking, and provides laugh-out-loud themes as well as ones that really get to you. Mary Stewart's MERLIN books are grand, not to mention historically appealing. GAWAIN AND LADY GREEN is a fresh look at some rather old legend, as well as romantic and dream-like but tragic and triumphant and joyful and amusing at the end. WHAT IS GOOD IN THIS BOOK? A boy (who is dull, albeit the fact that he has the courage to act the fool often) who falls in love with Merlin's girl? MERLIN'S GIRL. Another problem: I hated her. Look at the Niviene in MERLIN'S HARP--also a bit rusty, but I could relate to her. Real brain within the flesh and bone. I have given you several other books that seemed to me better than KING AND RAVEN. If you still want to read it, I'm not stopping you...but the others are good, unlike this one.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This is one of the best books I've read. It seems more realistic. I loved the characters and the author did such a wonderful job of the writing the book that I couldn't put it down. I think this is a great book and it is one almost everyone would enjoy reading.
Rating: Summary: Spendid Review: With the usual Arthur story, everyone's read one or two or more of the different variations out there. This is one of the best after MIST OF THE AVALONS. While being told by a young knight, something that turned me off in the beginning, it was a whole new light dawning on this time contained story of love and soul searching. Fabulous.
