Review: What a marvelous character Ben Bova has created. Just when you think Sam cannot possibly get out of a situation, be it political, sexual or space related, he pulls a fast one. This guy has more moves than John Travolta. A wonderful book that shows that science fiction can also have a light hearted side.

Review: Witty? No. Irreverent? No. Remotely interesting? Not even. Had I known that SAM GUNN FOREVER was a string a slightly related elongated short stories, I honestly probably wouldn't even have picked up the book. I've not read much from Ben Bova, and this book cements the premise that I probably won't read much Ben Bova in the future. Sam Gunn's occasional witty situations are only that ... occasionally witty. There's nothing fresh here, and there's very little humor. With a name like Sam Gunn, you'd think the author might have given the lead character a little more meat on them bones; sadly, Sam Gunn is the brunt of most jokes, the biggest joke of which is on the reader who picks up this lame book of tales. "He's back!" He should've stayed away.
