Summary: Content vs. Theory vs. Writing
Review: I am going to put the same review on each of the "Left Behind" series books because my reaction to each of them is basically the same. (For actual content, read Amazon's description above. For my bent on the series, read on.)

There are basically three main theories concerning Christ's return, based off scripture, and though I won't get into them here, this one is off the pre-tribulation theory. (Which is actually the same one I believe in.) The problem is, I know why I believe in this particular theory, whereas other Christian may simply read this book and say, "Oh, so that's what's going to happen!" Well, before you do that, check your Bible and other sources, and don't just base it off these books. OK, time to step off my soapbox...

As far as writing talent, I have been VERY disappointed with all the books in this series. At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking the writing was so simplistic so younger kids could read them too, until I discovered they have a young kids version out for this series, at which point I was just saddened. So don't expect a well-written novel, as I feel each book's writing has become more and more simple with each release. And by this, I don't mean the story doesn't flow, because it does. It's just written in such simply words that even a grade-schooler could read it without any problems.

As far as content, you'll find stuff in here you like, I don't doubt that, but if you're like me, you'll be skimming many areas because you don't care about every single step that every single person takes to get from point A to point B. It's a tedious read at parts, but if you like the study of the end times, as do I, or like reading Christian novels, as do I, then these books will suffice. But don't base your belief system off them until you know more than just what's presented here, and certainly DON'T read them if literary content is your main goal as you won't find well-WRITTEN novels here. If it weren't for that fact alone, I'd be devouring these books as they came out, but as it is, I've read them after friends buy them and are done with them since I am interested in the story, but not the work it takes for me to constantly forgive the writing.

Summary: Keep 'em Coming
Review: Although this is probably not the best of the series, it is still a fascinating chronicle. It falls short of Nicolae and Soul Harvest for suspenseful action and intricate references to the Book of Revelation, but it is still a wonderful read. I cannot wait to move to the next book and move closer to the end. This series has made me consider things that I have not thought about, and it is so naturally woven into "real", believable character's lives. It has not disappointed thus far.

Summary: The BEST book in the series thus far....by far!
Review: I don't know if there are words to explain how great this book is. I couldn't put it down, it was non-stop action from page one. A MUST read in my opinion, especially for born-again believers or anyone that's been following the series. If you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat Apollyon is it!

Summary: Must be the work of God...
Review: This series must be the work of God! This book restored my faith in the series just enough to keep reading. The first book was a great beginning and the second kept it going. However, I made the mistake of listening to books 3 and 4 on audio tape and they were terrible. Appolyon was slow in the beginning but it picks up in the middle with some exciting scenes involving escapes from jerusalem and the plague of locusts. The writer Jenkins manages to make his vision of the future believable enough for me to continue reading book six. This book wasn't perfect though. The characters and dialogue have no depth. Also, I have finally accepted that in makes sense for Ben-judah to be a leader to all the believers. But this book makes it sound like he is the ONLY PERSON in the whole world that knows what the sixth trumpet will be. Come on, it is right there in the bible for anyone to see. Ben judah is not that much smarter than everyone. Also, the books are way too short and the paperbacks are way too expensive. Making a paperback the size of a hardcover so you can charge more money is not a Christian way to market a book.

Summary: They just keep getting better!
Review: I just can't seem to get enough of this series! These books are so great and right along with the scriptures. I feel as if I now know all the characters and am going thru it with them! These books have also reminded me of how important it is that we as believer's need to be thinking more about what is to come and witness more to un-believer's! I hadn't been spiritual enough lately, but when I started on these books a few months ago-well-that fixed the problem! I just can't wait for #7 and the movie "Left Behind"! I hope it's as good as the books have been!

Summary: Starts out a little slow but pulls you in quickly
Review: Appolyon by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins is the fourth book in a great series about the endtimes. Bible-based the characters are discovering what it's like to live through the 7-year tribulation and God's wrath. They become fugitives against a one-world government as the world goes through the Fifth Trumpet Judgement-a plague. A great read, Appolyon is heart-wrenching, romantic, full of adventure and highly recommended! Don't miss the other books in this series!

Summary: Apollyon: The Destroyer is Unleashed
Review: I have read all the books in the left behind series, up to Apollyon. I have been very impressed with the subject matter and how closely it seems to follow the bible but, I am unable to give this book high marks because of the lack of substance to the story. It is very frustrating to really get into a book and find that you are left hanging. The authors seem to just skim the surface of subjects, time and time again they just jump from one topic to another without really giving the reader something to hold onto. This series of books has made me want to read the bible more and to become involved with the church. I would have gladly have paid much more to have a book that really stayed with the subject matter and made you feel that you were really experiencing the events with the Buck, Chloe, and Rayford, but you really don't even get to know them as real people because the book jumps around so much. Maybe soon they will write a book that will make people want to accept Jesus into their hearts.

Summary: Good Fiction?
Review: This book continues the saga and by now the characters have become very soap opera-ish. If you've read the previous books in the series, part of the draw is to find out what has happened to those left behind. You won't be dissappointed either as their are more twists and turns to this preachy soap. The intrigue is there but something is lacking or maybe it is that the formula has been streched too thin and this information could have been condensed into less than five books. The suspense will still keep your attention but it won't keep you riveted like before. The messaage permeates the book and you cannot escape the inevitable question concerning your own personal salvation. An easy read that entertains the mind and soul, for believers mostly but fun reading for those who still walk the tightrope.

Summary: I think that I left grip marks on my book!
Review: This is the best one to date of the series. Things are really getting heated up for the trib. saints and as each page turns I wonder at what I'll see next. I really enjoyed the locust attacks of the non-believers, Nasty little buggers. I can't imagine 5 months of pain and suffering. I need to get the next book in series, I'm addicted.

Summary: Contiued excellence
Review: Despite some negative comments here, I still believe these books are wonderful writing. Apollyon continues that, keeping the reader in suspense until the end and beyond.
