Rating: Summary: Excellent series about the last days Review: I loved all 5 books, but I can't wait to read book six..I have to know what happens to these people, the baby and of course Hattie...What's she really up to? Anyway, I loved the way the events of "Revelation" are put in order, with characters to make it easier to understand..Apollyon definitely has me wanting to know more..so don't take too long in coming out with it.....I have alot of people reading this series...What a great witnessing tool..........
Rating: Summary: These books were great! Read them! Review: This was the best set of books I have ever read. I am studying Revelation right know, and it was really cool to see it all happen in the book, like it was layed out in the Bible. After reading this book,it makes you realize that we are on the earth for such a short time, and we should spend it glorifying him and spreading the Gospel. When I was reading Left Behind, I got so angry when Nicolae Carpathia killed the two men in the conference room, that I threw down the book and burst into tears. Don't wait around until he has already come back for his people. Accept Jesus today!
Rating: Summary: My analysis after three books in the set Review: I know a good many people enjoy these Lahaye/Jenkins novels because they are very biblically oriented, and that's all well and good, I don't knock it. But as literature goes, to be honest, these books are NOT very well written. The characters are thin, artificial, the writing forced and simplistic. A far deeper and more compelling Apocalyptic novel is Glenn Kleier's THE LAST DAY. Although NOT biblically accurate in many apsects, the story is hugely suspenseful and the spiritual nature far deeper than any of the three books of this series I've read so far, APOLLYON, TRIBULATION and LEFT BEHIND. Because of this, I found THE LAST DAY considerably more fulfilling, spiritually, and certainly more thrilling from a literary perspective. If your interest is a superior story, and less the scriptural application, THE LAST DAY is a more rewarding read.
Rating: Summary: Where's the beef? Review: I agree with readers who find the "Left Behind" series somewhat lacking. These stories are fine as biblical supplements, if that's what you're looking for, but they are really not very strong as good fiction writing goes. If you want to read an endtime story with some real chills and thrills, let me suggest "The Last Day" or maybe even "Day of Confession." Kleier's "The Last Day" departs somewhat from a conventional biblical account of endtimes, however it's a far more challenging story, with a lot more twists, surprises and suspense. And the writing is much better than in "Apollyon" and "Left Behind."
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: People, Christians and non Christians both, let us not forget that these books are written about Biblical Prophecies. These things have not yet happened, so of course they are written in a fictional manner. Rayford, Amanda, Buck, Chloe, and the evil Carpathia are great characters whos actions keep you rivited to each and every book. But I'll tell you write now, you can not disagree with the Biblical accuracy of what is to come if you are a believer and especially if you are not!. From book #1 "Left Behind" to now #5 "Apolloyn", these books keep you turning pages as fast as you can. How amazing God's love is for us that He has given His children a second chance after the Rapture to come and know Him before it's too late. These books are for everyone, but for the non believer, get a friends bible and read the book of Revelations after your done with this series. You definately do not want to be "Left Behind". God loves you and He sent His only Son Jesus Christ down to earth to die for you so that you could have eternal peace in Heaven. If thats not the epitimy of unselfish love, then none exsits. Keep writing guys, and get the movie out asap! You've got one ticket sold right here, and dozens more to my friends behind me!
Rating: Summary: Great story, great message! Review: Only The Triumph and the Glory can hold a candle to Apollyon, the latest Left behind book. I couldn't put either of them down, they are magnificent stories of good fighting evil, and winning. Very inspirational and TRUE.
Rating: Summary: Geez -- give the guys some credit Review: To be sure, LaHaye and Jenkins haven't exactly delivered the strongest characters or the most compact book series on earth, but I think many of those commenting on the series are missing the real strength and point of this series: getting us to think about the Rapture and Tribulation and what it may mean for those of us whose commitment to Christ is not where it should be. Revelation had successfully escaped me for years -- this series has framed the scripture pretty nicely. I picked up Left Behind out of amusement and somewhere before the Wrath of the Lamb three books later was beginning to ask myself questions about whether I will be prepared when the time comes. I'm not sure I am saved--yet. LaHaye and Jenkins are building the tension quite nicely -- you know what is coming, but you don't know when it will hit and how you would deal with it if you were there. Remember, people -- it will be a LONG seven years. Give these writers their due. And God Bless you, guys!
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!!!! Review: For those who understand the book of revelation, this is an AWESOME book!!! I have read comments that it is COMIC BOOK like. . . he he that is for the birds! MUST READ!!
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!! A VERY GOOD BOOK Review: Although I have only read Appolyon and the first book Left Behind, I felt Appolyon was the better of the two. It is too bad Ken Ritz had to die, but still a very exciting book. One thing I wonder is what happened to Pastor Bruce Barnes, who is not mentioned in the fifth book, but was an instrumental charachter in the first book. He could have died in between 1 and 5 though. I like the fact that Jerry Jenkins and Tim Lahaye didn't just use one main charachter, but several including Rayford Steele, Chloe Steele, and Buck Williams. This is a must have for end times readers as myself. A good book for everybody, though.
Rating: Summary: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STORY??????? Review: Apollyon isn't very good and it's LaHaye and Jenkins fault. They wrote some great stuff and than turn around and write this. Not good!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHAT HAPPENED????????????????? Someone recommended, "THE FIST OF GOD' by A.T. Nicholas to me and I'm recommending it to you. This is a great, well written thriller with some original ideas. The short to the point chapters were refreshing. The book has some positive messages in it and Nicholas uses originality and some imaginative writing to get it across. Great book!
