Rating: Summary: Think so? Review: It certainly attempts to literally interpret a very difficult and symbolic text. I believe a more realistic approach must factually account for how the world is changing and where that change is likely to take us. For non-fiction, I urge all to read "The End of Privacy" by Reg Whitaker. Then take the next step and devour "Transfer-the end of the beginning" by Jerry Furland. The Left Behind series often left me behind due to the incongruous plot lines. Why do things happen the way they do? Does God have to intervene to move events or does God merely describe what will be? I think the latter make the most sense to me. It puts man where God said we would be-in charge and free to work our will either in obedience to His Law or to our own desires. This is not theological Rocket Science as demonstrably, most of the earth continues to act according to their own desires.
Rating: Summary: Affirmation for the elect and the willing... Review: For those already in the choir, the "Left Behind Series" are an affirmation of hope. For those who are on the fence, these books may nudge you in either direction. For those who have no hope in a moral ascendancy over their actions that is redemptive, this series may not persuade. For myself, I found "Transfer-the end of the beginning" by Jerry Furland a much more credible vision of the future. For those not already in the choir, perhaps "Transfer" is the best introduction to the future as it most likely will unfold.
Rating: Summary: Changing Lives Review: I am completely thrilled at the way these books are changing lives around me. A friend recommended them shortly after the series started and I was instantly hooked. Since then I have marvelled at the number of "not-religious" people who get chills reading the books and can't put them down. They are easy enough for anyone to understand the simple truth in them. My friends and family have become engrossed in the stories of these peoples' lives. In my opinion, nothing short of the apocalypse could have had such an impact on the world.
Rating: Summary: I just couldn't put it down! Review: The Left Behind series is the best series I have ever read. The characters are so real, the prophesies are brought to life, and it follows the scriptures wonderfully. I reccommend this book and the entire series to everyone I know, whether they are avid readers or not. I wasn't before, but that has changed.
Rating: Summary: Christ's coming Review: I have never learned so much about the Tribulation period than from the Left Behind series. They are a must have for Christians at any stage in their fellowship.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but¿ Review: "Left Behind," (the series,) was an easy read, with an also too easy to follow plot. I preferred Jerry Furland's view of a more realistic turn of future events in his novel, "Transfer: The end of the beginning." It has a more believable scenario, is less opinionated, and is more intelligently written than "Left Behind." "Transfer" left me wanting more, and thankfully there is-it is the first novel of a trilogy. I recommend it highly!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: It really captivates you. You could sit there for hours listening to it and not get bored. I really recommend these tapes. The one problem is that it's a little varied from the book and a little harder to understand, but overall really good.
Rating: Summary: Review#369 Review: "Transfer-the end of the beginning" by Jerry Furland is a much better read, makes a lot more sense, and the best part, it is probably exactly where we are headed in the year 2009. You decide.
Rating: Summary: Running out of time? Or just ideas? Review: I approached the opening book of the Left Behind series skeptically. I've grown up in the church world, hearing the mish-mash of prophecy and fear shoved in the faces of the pew-dwellers, sometimes for honorable intentions, other times not. Pleasantly, I was surprised by the readability of the first book. Though it's description may or may not be the way God closes history, at least it challenged readers to weigh their own life and actions. Unfortunately, as the series has progressed, the writing has stumbled, the plot has thinned, and the message has become redundant. Like a bag of chips, the series got me addicted to the salt and fat, but now I'm merely overstuffed. Let's have some true meat, not only in the message, but in the method. Should Christians lower their artistic standards to rush the latest fictional sermon to the masses? I challenge all of you who, like me, love Jesus and His creativity, to reconsider our view of telling the Good News. Many of my non-believing friends refuse to read a novel unless it rises above the level of creative mediocrity. Should we expect them to dip down to lap at the rivers of life? Or can we raise the truth to them in chalices of well-crafted writing? Yes, God can use the simple to confound the wise. But He's also an incredible Creator, and we're made in His image. Jenkins and LaHaye initially hit on something special, but the record's been played one too many times. I'm looking for a novel that deals with the struggles of today, challenging and encouraging while telling a great story. We may be running out of time, but we haven't come close to stirring all the ideas available to writers who live in the shadow of our Almighty Creator.
Rating: Summary: Another recommenation for you. . . Review: To all lovers of the LEFT BEHIND series, let me recommend another sensational author you will love: Glenn Kleier. His novel, THE LAST DAY is nothing short of brilliant and I believe you will find it just as astounding as I have. It's become my all time favorite novel and I'd like to share the great enjoyment it gave me.
